The photos really lie about the actual quality of the hotel (which was quite poor, a 1 star hotel at best), and the room I stayed in had several issues:
- Black mold on wall
- Smell of mildew throughout the room (including my pillows)
- Bad smelling air conditioner (had not been cleaned)
- Grimy bathroom
- Poor hot water supply to shower
- Other peoples' hair in my bed linens...
The cleaning staff insisted on coming into my room while I was getting ready the next morning. They tried getting me to open the cover of the trash bin, asked if I wanted any towels, flipped the corner of the comforter, and left. They were laughing and giggling the whole time, making the experience seem a bit unprofessional.
When I complained the next morning to the front desk staff, they offered me another room but were going to charge me extra for another room until I argued about the black mold on the walls.
Although I still had 3 nights left on my reservation, I decided to check out a few hours later after finding a better hotel. When I asked about a partial refund, the hotel staff indicated that the reservation was nonrefundable since it was an Expedia reservation. Hotels.com also indicates that an early checkout is non-refundable.
I'm out 3 nights, but you don't have to be. There are much better, cheaper options in Hanoi; do not stay here.
