Where to stay

District 1 is the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, and this upmarket neighbourhood is where you'll find many of the city's historic buildings, modern skyscrapers, and the sleek Diamond Plaza which is full of designer and international brands. You'll find busy streets full of tourists and locals on mopeds, and at night it becomes a neon drenched paradise, with clubs and bars full of the well-heeled. District 3 has a more traditional feel, with lots of French Colonial architecture and pagodas. You'll find a lot of charming, boutique hotels in this area, with a slower pace of life and a more relaxed atmosphere.

There are regular buses between the train station to the most popular tourist areas, making it a popular option for backpackers and those who want to explore Vietnam.
