8/10 Very good

A nice stay.
Always tricky to review an historic building when they are hotels. The welcome was lovely and breakfast was excellent. Bathroom needs an update. Beds were fine, we slept well. It was quiet and pleasant. The odd eccentricity can be overlooked. Only thing I would say, because it was a pub walking through the bar to breakfast was the debris of a previous nights good time. Old food and glasses, which is not great but can be mostly ignored. The bar does close early so those in the hotel can get a good nights rest. We were out late with family so that would not have bothered us.

It was a lovely stay in 15th century inn. The floors and walls were a bit uneven, which you would expect in old building. The food and drinks were excellent and everybody was so friendly, and couldn't do enough for us.

4/10 Fair

Tired, over priced
Parking essential as very little street parking available so thumbs up there. Disappointed to be told on arrival there was no food being served, a major reason why we booked here as detailed in the hotel over-view. Very old building with lots of character, however, needs a lot of investment to bring it up to standard to reflect the £85 a night charge. Very strange strong smell in room, like sewage, but couldn’t find any leaks. Had to sleep with window open so noise from pub opposite (Queens Arms) kept us awake until it closed after midnight. Toilet seat dangerously loose. Bed mattress very thin and hard, not a great sleep. No hot water in the hot tap, when mentioned to manager he seemed very surprised even though there are other reviews here with same experience. Didn’t use shower as didn’t want a cold one. Manager kindly provided with a takeaway breakfast of sausage and bacon sandwiches and tea and coffee as had to leave early. Sadly wouldn’t choose to stay again unless improvements made.
