Excellent sea front location but the hotel is in dire need of an upgrade. There are cracked floor tiles in the reception, the rooms are tired (that is being kind) and the whole hotel needs a re-fit. On the plus side, the rooms are clean and tidy, the sheets and towels are clean and the hotel itself is clean. It is just tired.

Cannot give this place any ratings as 2 weeks before my stay they emailed me to say they cannot accept my booking which was already paid for and confirmed,they moved me to the OYO Marina Hotel which was OK but not what i wanted, I suspect they were getting more money for the room ,very poor customer services by OYO and thanks to hotels.com for the compensation

I stayed 3 nights, June 2021 with my 4-year-old grandson, in Room 1 (twin room). THE ROOM: its location, right next door to the room housing the pool table, then the bar, was not good for people wanting to sleep before 10pm. The receptionist couldn't even find the room on check-in. The ignorance of the staff about their own hotel and the bus service was unexpected. THE BEDS: the mattress was 6 inches longer than the bed base, meaning there was nowhere to tuck sheets or quilt in; even if the base had been the same length, the quilt wasn't long enough, meaning one could choose between an uncovered torso or uncovered feet. THE CURTAINS: they offered some degree of privacy but did not stop any light. They were not even properly hung. (UN)CLEANLINESS: a sweet-wrapper left on the coffee tray indicated lax cleaning (during a pandemic!). NO UNDERSHEET: there was nothing between the flimsy sheet and the mattress. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE: the free-standing wardrobe/closet was not attached to the wall at all. I stepped on the bottom as I packed to leave (I'm short), to ensure I had left nothing on the top shelf, and the entire closet started to tip towards me. The Esplanade itself offers some attractions for young families, but you would be better off staying up in the town, at a nicer establishment, and using the half-hourly Shanklin Shuttle to get down to the beach. If this hotel had been billed as 1.5 stars, and cost £40-50/night, I might have thought it was value for money.

One of the worst hotel I ever experienced: no hot water, impressive noise until 21:45 due to the kitchen (room 115), toilets flushing issues. They said that the absence of hot water was due to the hotel being reopened after the pandemics. Surely all hotels reopened after the pandemics lack hot water.

Didn't have high expectations but having a clean room and be able to take a shower are common sense things. Room wasn't clean and there was no clean service while our 3-nights stay although we were always leaving the clean- service badge on the door. Shower was not working and solution given (after many times try to ask for hep) was to let us use another room from another floor to take a shower.. Overall, totally disappointing stay.

We got uograded due to our room not being ready to a room with a balcony view. This was very pleasant to have this but the room very small. And is not woeth the money that it is advertised for. Mirror tucked away in the corner of the room which was hard to use. No full length mirror. Needs a set of drawers. Decor was not great. No wifi signal No tv picture at all for the while 3 days we stayed. Which is great if you dont watch tele or use your phone. Dirty in places and needs a womans touch.
