Charming country hotel. Lots of original features, decorated to suit age of property. Very clean and spacious room, full of antiques and character, very quirky. Restaurant food and service excellent. Characterful, old-style property with good facilities including very nice Spa and pool. Stayed here for three nights. Disappointed with allocated room which was in an upper corner of the main block with low ceilings and very little room to move- no walk-in shower, only a bath with no room to stand up. Spoke to reception staff who were great and organised a room change and upgrade. In fact staff were extremely helpful and friendly throughout. Very nice cooked-to-order breakfast and great dinner. Lovely drinks on the terrace in the afternoons. Can highly recommend a stay here.

We were looking for an overnight relaxing stay and this hotel was exactly what we needed. Everything you want for a relaxing time is provided for . Our room was a good size, quiet and very comfortable. The hotel is steeped in history, and the building is incredibly quirky dating back to the 15th century. Many historical figures have stayed here, including Horatio Nelson! We would like to single out in particular a member of staff called Horace, whose hospitality went above and beyond at all times and made the whole experience even more marvellous. We enjoyed a delightful three course meal in the evening and found that the menu was very appealing and the restaurant had a lovely ambience to it. The morning after our stay we were booked in for a massage in the spa which was also great. The amenities are brilliant and we would very much recommend this to anyone else wanting a relaxing weekend away.
