Terrible night's sleep
We stayed here in November 2019. The room was ridiculously hot, so we had a terrible night's sleep and woke up feeling like dried prunes. The hotel has a shabby chic feel, but unfortunately more shabby than chic. The victorian style bathroom suite is a nightmare: the overhead cistern is incredibly noisy and the overshower just judders and goes cold when you turn it up, so couldn't have a proper shower. No mixer taps on the sink. It's all very well to have this olde worldy feel, but things have to work. There was also evidence in the bathroom behind the door that the cleaners are not sufficiently thorough On checkout, I complained about the shower and temperature in the room and was asked if we had tried the air conditioning. In November! Right, so pump heat into the room, so we can pump it out - very environmentally friendly, not! We were offered a free breakfast in compensation, but declined. Terrible!

Location great , accommodation lacking
Great location and that’s what you pay for rather than the accommodation , Small lumpy double bed. Bathroom heater not working. Bedside table lamp not working . Dodgy plumbing . All a bit tired and in need of TLC

Short stay
Uncomfortable bed, felt like I was rolling down hill all night. Decor rough around the edges, shower only half worked. Good breakfast and good location.

Good 6.0
Generally a nice hotel with friendly staff and in good location. However, some of the rooms are very loud due to road noise. Windows don’t block any sound and traffic runs into the night. Now charging for parking, used to be included. Nice breakfast but not included in most rates.

Enjoyable stay
Great location in historic Pantiles. An older building resulting in some compromises, e.g. narrow stairs with no lift facility. Room offered initially was small and cramped with chipped bath and malfunctioning shower. Subsequent upgrade was great - spacious dual-aspect room with good outlook over the Pantiles. Worth booking a superior room.

Nice hotel, small rooms
We were in Room 50 which is at the top of a very long flight of stairs. Not easily accessible for people with mobility issues although fine for us. The room was very small but clean and comfortable. Overall I thought the hotel was a little pricey considering that breakfast was not included but there are lots of little cafes nearby for breakfast instead. Good location on the Pantiles and the bar was nice for a drink in the evening. One thing I found slightly off putting/unwelcoming was a message in the hotel book in the room saying that if the staff find evidence that you have been eating or drinking food/drink from outside the hotel in your room they will add £17 to your bill. I haven’t seen that anywhere before and thought was a bit unnecessary and created an unpleasant tone. The room itself was nice enough.

Sweet but noisy
Lovely hotel in main pedestrian area of Old Town. Great service, really good restaurant. Main con was the noise - not best place if you need an afternoon nap or an early night. Double bed too small for 2 people to share. Otherwise, a sweet hotel in a lovely spot.
