Great place to stay
I haven’t stayed in a hostel/hotel before and I was a bit nervous about what it would be like. I needn’t have worried! The lobby was clean, bright and had nice decor. The staff were very helpful. We had 2 rooms for 3 people and the hotel was kind enough to put us next to each other, which was much appreciated. The rooms were clean and a decent size. Not much hanging space, but a big drawer under each bed for our belongings. We had taken padlocks for the drawers, as advised. Beware the metal lids - take care when closing the drawer to avoid being hit by the lid! The hotel was well situated by Amstel Station. Great for getting to/from the airport and into the places we wanted to visit. We had 3 nights, so bought a 72 hour pass for €19, which we felt was great value. We used the metro and the trams extensively. (Airport travel was extra) All in all, a great place to stay!

Not the Best or the Worse
There was good and bad stuff, good is that the location is near the transportation station, bad is that we purchase online services that we didnt received as the Hotel didnt had no reservation + the transportation card purshase at the hotel didnt include areas we ask for and we ended up paying more due to bad Hotel managemnet advise.

Good 6.0
We had to pay to leave our luggage there which was annoying. You only get one very thin pillow.

Good budget offering
Our party of 6 had a great stay at Meininger Hotel. It was the least expensive hotel in Amsterdam for the night we were looking at, and it worked well for our needs. A few things to be aware of, though. One, there is very little space, and the beds are very close together. It might not be a good fit if someone in your party snores, or if someone is uncomfortable sleeping in the same room as a lot of other people. Two, if you're coming from the airport and taking public transportation, make sure to look up directions beforehand -- you have to make a transfer if you go by train. Three, breakfast is pretty expensive, but there's an Albert Heijn To Go store at the nearby Amstel station that's cheap and pretty good. One pro is that there is one room for the shower and another for the toilet, allowing both to be easily used at the same time.
