Nice hotel in what will be a nice area
Stayed here for one night in May. A couple of tweaks I would like to see - either more lights in the room or net curtains behind the main curtains so you can let more light in without having the curtains open. The rooms are dark. Also providing bathrobes and flannels would be good. When the construction work around the hotel is finished it'll be easier to walk into the centre. At the moment you have to go the long way round but it wasn't bad for us. Check out Javastraat and surrounding area, east Amsterdam is nice.

The only other issue we had was I left my wedding ring in the hotel room when I checked out. My wife and I are 99% sure where I left it - on the ledge in front of the mirror. But we came back to the hotel a few hours after checking out and the head of the cleaning team said they didn't find it. Can never been 100% sure about these things and wouldn't accuse anyone but like I say, we're 99% sure we know where it was. Was a bit disappointing.

4/10 Fair

Bad experience!!!
The modern industrial decor was unattractive, dark and cold. What made it worse was the dark halls and lack of The cold man at the front desk was completely unhelpful when we discovered that we had accidentally booked twice. He was prepared to charge us double and he wouldn’t let us check in until we had dealt with it. We had to handle it ourselves through Expedia. The concrete walls and very poor lighting in the room was awful. Our checkout was even worse. We misunderstood the checkout time to be noon. Be forewarned- it’s 11 o’clock NO MATTER WHAT!!!! As we were finishing up showers at 11:10, the gestapo-like man from housekeeping pounded on our door and demanded we open it. When we refused (in the nude) he became angry and told the front desk to charge us for late checkout. Then the woman at the desk called twice and angrily accused us of disrespecting her. We were given 15 minutes to pack up and get out of our room. When we did, the woman at the desk continued the fight, causing a stir in the lobby. Luckily a man intervened, complaining about the same maltreatment. After asking for a supervisor and more than a half hour of our time, a staff person apologized but not without telling us how important on time checkout is. Apparently it’s a “slippery slope” and many people don’t check out on time. Perhaps clear signage would have helped?Ultimately we did not have to pay the late fee, but the whole experience was very upsetting. We will never go back there!

8/10 Very good

The hotel was fairly clean, but the type of finish depicting a pseudo industrial facade made the interior seem cluttered and appeared dirty. Otherwise service from the staff was excellent. Amenities were basic but good enough.

Comfortable stay
Comfortable stay in clean and quiet room with all needed amenities. Wish there were more lighting/lamps since the wall decorations make room rather dark and gloomy. Quite a walk from the hotel to reach public transportation.
