Macau Fisherman's Wharf Hotels

Occupying 28-acres along the peninsula’s waterfront, Macau Fisherman’s Wharf is a one-stop hub for fashionable shopping, multicultural dining, and top-notch entertainment. The park’s buildings are themed on famous seaports, and include everything from the townhouses of Amsterdam, to the neon-gilded Art Deco abodes of Miami. Alongside an endless choice of places to shop or grab a bite, Macau Fisherman’s Wharf also boasts a handful of rides, on-site accommodation, and a sprawling casino to boot.

Things to see

A trip to Macau Fisherman’s Wharf can take you from Cape Town and Rome, to Spain and New Orleans all in one afternoon. After hours however, the three-story Babylon Casino is where the action is. Adorned with grandiose pillars and Babylonian-inspired art, the ritzy venue offers a huge choice of familiar table games and slot machines. Lotus Square is just a short walk from the park, and features the dazzling ‘Lotus Flower in Full Bloom’ sculpture as its focal point. Standing 6 metres tall, the gleaming gilded flower symbolizes Macau’s everlasting prosperity.

The Ruins of St. Paul’s Cathedral are probably Macau’s best-known landmark. Perched on a hill, the church’s southern stone façade dates back to the 17th century, and features ornate carvings by Japanese Christians and local craftsmen. Piercing the city’s skyline you’ll see the Macau Tower. Standing at 1,108 feet, the futuristic structure is home to an observation deck, a revolving restaurant, and one of the world’s highest commercial bungee jumps.

Hotels in Macau Fisherman's Wharf

As well as the accommodation within the complex, there are plenty of hotels near Macau Fisherman’s Wharf to choose from too. Among them you’ll find large and lavish casino establishments, luxury resorts, contemporary high-rise hotels, and more affordable chain name favourites. The larger properties such as Grand Lapa, generally feature the most amenities, ranging from swanky on-site bars and restaurants, to outdoor pools, fitness centres, and sometimes full-service spas too. Whilst rooms become ritzier the more you pay, most hotels near Macau Fisherman’s Wharf offer their guests air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and free WiFi.

Where to stay

Macau Fisherman’s Wharf isn’t too far out of the neon-soaked city centre, putting you within easy reach of glitzy casinos Macau is known for. You’ll also be close to the majority of the city’s star attractions, many of which are situated within the ‘Centro Historico’. A blend of Chinese tradition and Portuguese colonial history, the area brims with European-style architecture and temples, contrasting against the city’s more modern additions. At its heart lies Senado Square, a gently bustling Portuguese-style plaza, flanked by fashionable shops, restaurants and cafes. Just over the water, quieter Taipa also offers a glimpse into the region’s past, with its Chinese shophouses, cobbled streets, and the colonial abodes of the Houses Museum.

How to get to Macau Fisherman's Wharf

Many visitors to Macau touch down at Macau International Airport, situated around a 15-minute drive from the city centre. Because it mainly serves Asian destinations however, those coming from further away might find it more convenient to land at Hong Kong International instead. If you opt for the latter, there’s a ferry service directly from the airport to the Macau peninsula, which drops passengers off at the Macau Ferry Terminal (situated just a short walk from Macau Fisherman’s Wharf). From here a taxi to your accommodation shouldn’t cost much, though some hotels near Macau Fisherman’s Wharf provide a pick-up service on request.
