The Hotel has been closed since last year (2022) but still takes bookings. We arrived to find the place in a derelict condition. No one at the hotel and the grounds overgrown with weds and grass. Head office confirmed the hotel was open when I had concerns and had a web chat with them, Spoiled my break away. The hole group of OYO is to blame for this as the gave out misleading information. I now need to pursue them for a refund of my booking fee, please don't do what I did and book with OYO.

This is probably the worst experience I have ever had. I would never book this property or indeed anything through OYO again. I am on a walking holiday and the “hotel” months in advance as there is no other accommodation in the area. I received an e mail via Expedia from the hotel advising me that due to “unavoidable circumstances “ the booking was cancelled. This left me in the middle of nowhere, no buses no trains nothing. I spoke to OYO and they trotted out the usual platitudes about how sorry they were etc etc. in short they didn’t care. Looking at the other reviews this “hotel” has a limited life and OYO should be careful the kind of businesses it recruits to its organisation. If I could give 0/5 I would.

Faulty towers
There were spiders all over the room with a large spider in the bath. The room was cold and damp, we tried to use the 2 heaters that were in the room but both didn’t work. The toilet cistern leaked over the toilet bowl when you flushed and the shower was cold. When we went for breakfast, the only cereal available was cornflakes. Only full fat milk was available which was out of date, no coffee and a couple of old croissants left available. We needed a room for the GNR, at the time this was all that was below £300. Next time I’ll just pay £300. It was explained to us that the new owners had just taken over, I personally think it needs a makeover before you have guests, not after. Hopefully in the future this might be a pleasant place to stay.

Fab stay
Place was perfect for our needs and purpose of stay, bed very comfortable, it has a bar and restaurant, however wasn’t open on our stay due to the COVID which didn’t bother us. Before booking you can see the location is out the way so I’d recommend grabbing some snacks and be prepared to drive if you want food it’s only 20 minutes away so not too bad, or fingers crossed the restaurant may even be open set times. Overall it was perfect for our stay staff very welcoming and friendly, would highly reccomend.

Good value for money
Roger was very helpful. Since the bar and restaurant were not open. He sent me a message to lets us know. And we were able to use the microwave which was good. It is an old building with some damp issues. but our room was lovely . Would stay again hopefully next time the bar and restaurant will be open .

Crying out for some TLC
This was a dog friendly hotel, and I used a free bonus night. How, since most of my collecting nights were in Spain, where the hotels are excellent & much less expensive, I had to put £21 towards our stay & pay £10 for the dog. The hotel is very dated & dilapidated, first impressions really poor, a bit of tidying up & some weeding wouldn’t go amiss. The outside area was very poor, and the inside reception not much better. Our room on the other hand was very clean, warm & quite modern. The WiFi worked and water was hot. The flat screen tv had all the Freeview channels. Our window looked onto a large mobile phone mast. We were later down to breakfast the next day, although only 9.15 (Breakfast was served until 10.30) and as soon as we entered the dining room a full cooked breakfast was presented to us. No time for cereal or juice, which was on offer. It’s in a lovely part of the country and under new management- so maybe things will improve but I wouldn’t have booked had I seen it before and I would have been appalled to pay £67 (which is what it would have cost without the bonus night. Very disappointed.

Good little stopover
Looks like a work in progress in places but no issues with the comfort and quality of our room, which was quiet despite the place being by a crossroads. Dinner menu a little limited in choice but food of good quality, good buffet breakfast (great for diy bacon butties!). Comfortable bar and restaurant areas, good views if hadn't been wild & wet outside. The guys running the place were very friendly, helpful (and busy!).

The staff are very friendly and the views are beautiful. The only downfall is that it is so far from the town and costs about £50 for a taxi
