We stayed for 6 days at Handun Villas and we are extremely happy with the stay. The hotel is built around an old dutch manor, being the center piece and main building of the hotel. Spread throughout the fenced-in area are various cottages / villas which is the rooms you stay in. The architectural style looks amazing and invites relaxation and a cozy atmosphere. The pool area with hammocks further build on the chill vibe of the hotel. Throughout the property are mango trees which ripen in April.
We stayed in a room on the easternmost part of the area, room nr. 7 Kiri Palu. It was a 'Standard Room' consisting of a main room with a bed with mosquito cover, a desk with coffee/tea brewer, a TV with decoder and a wardrobe. The room also had a fairly large bathroom, with a toilet, a shower and a sink. There were two shower heads - one normal, one 'rainfall'. Seperate water heaters per room, and a bit on the small side. The beds were comfortable. The sockets are sri lankan, but you can use European chargers by fooling the top hole (grounding) with a pen /pencil. The wifi was good during the night, but slow during daytime.
Both the hotel manager, Damian, and the assistant manager showed fantastic hospitality and helped us out a lot. Anything from transportation and excursions, laundry, cooking classes and day-to-day questions were handled with elegance and a fantastic hospitality.
