Sleepless in Palm Springs
We are Los Angeles natives and travel frequently, both in the United States and abroad. I have not left a bad review in 15 years. However, given that this was about basic needs, it is warranted.
The hotel we usually stay at in Downtown Palm Springs, was sold out. I was hesitant to book a 3 star hotel. But the 4 star hotels, in my budget range, were given only moderate reviews.
I booked The Hideaway for its location and because it received good reviews on the beds & providing a great sleep. I figured, it is only 3 stars, but it is over $400. a night, so it may be good.
First the good, the hotel grounds are kept up nicely. And, the integrity of building is kept up, as well. The room has the old fashioned record player with records. Some period furnishings and pictures. They provide snacks and water, as well.
Now the bad part, the shower door extraordinarily small. Please see pictures. I am 5'5 and petite, I turned side ways to get in. My Husband is 6 feet tall, lean and athletic. We managed to get in. However, it would be very hard, if at all possible, for a large person to enter the shower.
One of the main reason that one books a hotel, is to sleep. The bed was the worst bed I have ever slept on in a hotel / motel, or even a lodge at the Grand Canyon! We read and read our books, trying to get to sleep. At one point we contemplated sleeping on the lounge chairs outside to be more comfortable. LOL
In the end, my Husband got no sleep and I got a few hours.
