We were in the large family room. There was no bin, bar fridge, soap or any other normal thing you would expect from a hotel. The bathroom was rubbish 2 pokey toilets and a shower that had a bout 2 foot of room between the wall and shower curtain. The light from the emergency exit sign lit up the entire room. Beds were comfy though. Also I don't think they cleaned properly before us, there were skid markes in the bowl...ew!

Poor
The staff were friendly. However, my room was an internal room (facing inwards not to the street) placed right next to the hotel’s air conditioning unit. This run constantly at varying degrees of loudness all night. That’s two lost nights of sleep I will never get back. The hotel should be ashamed to make this a paying room. Or, at least offer it at a discount and explain why it’s so cheap. Robert

Place is okay on location, but service is not.
This place for location and cost is good, but it’s not for you if you want your room service. Also no onsite staff from hotel to address issues. All you have is Restaurant Manager to address issues & I found one of these managers to be incredibly rude. Also no elevator, though security at bar was very helpful getting my luggage up to room. Overall they would be much better if they had people onsite to assist.

Exceptional
The Criterion is a quirky Irish pub. The bar has lots of decorations on the walls and ceiling to look at. The meals are well priced and huge, also delicious!

Very good
Quiet and clean in the city centre. Bed is comfortable and large. The perfect crash pad after a night out. Don't expect coffee or tea but they are not needed as there a any number of cafes close by.

The refurbishment is great as I stayed here 2 years ago and vowed never again. However, little things became annoying. No towel rail, no chair, no tea or coffee making facilities. Not even a glass for water. The brand new TV did not work so had to change rooms. No Towel in the new room so had to go hunting the corridors looking for a towel. The shelve in the bathroom was hanging by one support. The air conditioners outside the room are very load and they vibrated all night. This place has potential to be a great place to stay but needs more attention to detail. Only worth $85 per night
