Exceptional atmosphere, old world charm, very nice staff and tasty food. We liked the old character of the Chateau and the grounds. The price is very reasonable.

This is the first time we visited Burgundy region , I would say , I’m happy we visited Gilly aside from Beaune France . The location and the property is a very goood experience . Staying in a gothic , roman structure castle in a very nice small town , is a good place to relax and unwind . It is close to very good wineries (in Vougeot ) , le cassisium - where they do creek the cassis (located in Nuits-San- George’s ) . It is close to Beaune , Dijon and more .
The highlights is our dinner , this is one of the best places we ate aside from Hostellerie Cedre in Beaune and Paris . It’s a culinary experience in a castle: chateau …. What more can you ask .
The only downside is no air conditioning - probably because , it’s an old castle and hard to incorporate air conditioning

We stayed at Chateau Gilly 12 years ago and it was wonderful. When we arrived last week, the first thing we were told was that they were closing in two weeks for 2-3 years for a ":complete renovation". It felt like a warning, which proved to be true.
The rooms were shabby and a odour of stagnant air in the public areas. Run down and nowhere near a 4 or 5 star status...not even close to a one star. Poor plumbing in the room and when we asked about breakfast, "Coffee and Croissant" €56.00 Euros for two. A miserable experience and guests should be warmed in advance if the hotel is closing imminently.

Avoid this place at all costs!!
Horrendous… no restaurant and no bar open
They organised a taxi for us to a nearby restaurant which cost us 50 euros then chased us for 6 euros tax in the car park, this place should close, corridor had discarded food and empty wine bottles which they obviously had to buy from Aldi in the next town as the village this hotel is in has no bars nor restaurants. Absolutely fuming…. No offer of a discount, just embarrassed teenagers running the reception. Appalling situation !!

A déconseiller
