    Konoba Luviji

    A family-owned dining experience

    Konoba Luviji is a fine choice when you want to experience traditional Croatian cuisine. Set in a renovated wine cellar, the eatery is owned by a family that has a long history of producing high-quality wine, olives and seafood dishes. The restaurant also includes a rooftop terrace, which provides stellar views of St. Stephen’s Cathedral and Hvar Fortress on the surrounding hillside.  

    At Konoba Luviji, you're presented with a refined menu of Dalmatian dishes. The options keep things relatively simple but delicious, with many of the ingredients served coming straight from the owner's farm. The restaurant also holds an excellent reputation for both its homemade red and white wine varieties.

    Konoba Menego

    Cosy old-world dining

    Konoba Menego is a classic Dalmatian dining spot located along one of Hvar Town's mazy laneways. This charming restaurant is decorated with a collection of artefacts and old photographs from across Hvar. There's also a small patio if you want to dine al fresco.

    Like many authentic Croatian restaurants, Konoba Menego's menu is reasonably modest. There are marinated meats, fresh cheeses and locally grown vegetables, alongside fresh seafood platters, salads and pasta. The owners also have a vineyard on the nearby island of Sveti Klement, which produces excellent Croatian wines.

    Fig Cafe Bar

    Modern Dalmatian cuisine

    Fig Cafe Bar is renowned for its distinctly international twist on Croatian flavours. Born in Australia and the US respectively, owners Rob Jenko and Geoff Bratten created a seasonal menu using ingredients from across the island, with many plates celebrating the region's culinary traditions. The first Fig restaurant is tucked away behind Hvar Town's main square. You can find additional outlets in Stari Grad and Split.

    Restaurant Mizarola

    Bustling Italian dining

    Restaurant Mizarola is an excellent choice when you're craving homey Italian cuisine. Located near the western edge of Hvar Town, it's frequently packed with locals and tourists. There are plenty of places to sit, with tables spread out on the street and the rooftop terrace.

    You can find a wide range of pizzas and pasta dishes combining traditional Italian ideas with Croatian inspiration. There are also hearty meat options, featuring the region's beloved seafood and lamb. Prices also tend to be lower than many eateries nearby, so keep this place in mind if you're on a budget.

    Great wine and local flavours

    Giaxa offers an insight into Croatia's great culinary history, while also keeping things contemporary. The restaurant focuses on using local ingredients, with virtually everything served in this popular place either grown in the nearby fields or caught from the surrounding sea. Giaxa is also celebrated for its extensive wine list, giving you a chance to try top-notch varieties from across Croatia and Europe.

    Finding a way to enhance classic Dalmatian flavours is central to Giaxa's success. There are elegantly presented starters such as octopus with broad beans and saffron prawn risotto. Mains include options like lamb rump salsa verde and pan-fried duck breast. For dessert, you can't go wrong with a chocolate souffle served alongside miso-caramel ice cream.
