Barcelo U Spa has 17 treatment rooms, including rooms for couples and outdoor treatment areas. Massages are available on the beach and in the spa. Other services include facials, body wraps and body scrubs. A variety of treatment therapies are provided, including aromatherapy and hydrotherapy. Was turned away from vip restaurant (which we were given access as part of VIP Access benefits) because no one in the hotel knows about Expedia VIP other than in check in counter. Even after opening a complaint and being told it would not happen again, it dis happen again, and the response from the restaurant “leader” was that shw was not aware we had put a complaint. Totally unacceptable. Initial room was dated, dirty, and with very high humidity, and a non working AC. As an Expedia employee, it is a shame our customers have to deal with all these issues. We should work with partners to make sure they are properly trained, and we should have procedures to review property VIP status when incidents like this happen.

The property was beautiful and my room was fantastic with a great view from the balcony with a hot tub. The only issues were that it took ages to check in because everyone has to fill out a bunch of forms, and it was disappointing that swimming and beach access ended at only 7:00 pm. Overall, I would stay here again if I chose to visit the DR in the future.

Second time I stayed at this hotel . Had a great experience again. The service at the bar next to the kids nightclub, was amazing. My wife was a little ill, and the bartender girl , made my wife a nice tea , and it helped her feel better . The bartenders a girl and a guy , can’t remember their name , but the one next to the kids nightclub were amazing, love them , they deserve a raise, for going above and beyond.

The property is beautiful. The grounds are well kept. There are swim areas for all ages. The beach felt on the small side and the sand was full of dead seaweed and trash guests leave behind (think this can be cleaned up) and the ocean was full of seaweed too. There is a Waterpark that you have access to only once. If you want to visit again you have to pay $10pp per day. The swimming pools were spacious and allowed for folks to spread out. Friday, Saturday and Sunday the resort was VERY crowded. As far as the food is concerned, I'll give it a 3 out of 5. The Miramar Buffet had lots of options and you were bound to find something that you would enjoy. The specialty restaurants were okay. We went to Mexico Lindo, Dolce Vita and the Santa Fe Steakhouse. The food was okay again. Service is lacking. As much as they want to be specialty, the staff and the food preparation and presentation weren't great. There are many stores to shop. Things are a bit pricey. But if you're missing something, you can at least find it there and not have to travel outside the resort. The staff isn't very friendly. Check in didn't private us a welcome kit or any info on the resort or amenities. They just handed us a map. Even as you enter areas no one says hello or good morning. The room was nice and comfortable. We stayed in a family duplex that had three beds and two bathrooms/showers. The cleaning staff kept the room clean and replenished the fridge with soda and water everyday.
