Lovely, unique find and value in downtown
We love this place and this was our third year in a row of staying here. I would have awarded 5 stars but the elevator was out of service (again) so accessibility for my wife and luggage to our second floor room was difficult.
In the future, I will be sure to discuss room options, accessibility-wise with them beforehand, they are extremely helpful. Keep in mind the historic rooms are a little quirky, but nicely furnished. Again I encourage you to call before hand and they can walk you through what the rooms have and don't have.
It is a great location within short walking distance to downtown attractions and restaurants. And a very short drive or medium length walk to the awesome Gulf Maritime Museum! Overall a great value and free parking to boot.
Old downtown area Mobile is lovely with the old oaks and public squares.

Mobile
Very outdated. Half of the outlets in the room didn’t work, the bed was amazing, Overall maintenance is very poor, a lot of holes in the walls and such.

One of the noisiest hotels I’ve ever stayed at
Our room was just above the main entrance and the door slam shut every time somebody walks through it so we listen to that door slam shut until about 2 o’clock in the morning. The bed is so wore out that I sunk probably 4 to 6 inches into the bed if you look under the bed, there is a big hole in the box springs. the only thing that this hotel had going forward is it was clean

History at its best
We had an excellent experience but we were there due to the ac not working at our place so our focus was elsewhere. I can say that the service was excellent and the room was comfortable and clean. The history of the building is an experience of its own!

Beautiful Place
The hotel is beautiful. We loved all the furnishings and the old wood floors, and the courtyard. The four-poster bed was nice, but the mattress was not good. My head was “downhill”, so I didn’t sleep well. I think for a one-night stay the hotel is fine, but I would not recommend a longer stay.

Stylish in 1865 but today it’s rundown
The hotel is historic but has not been renovated. It smells musty, the wifi didnt work, the bathtub had rust in it, there was no fridge in the room, the coffee maker was cheap and had dust in the compartment where you put the water- i doubt it had been used in years. Thankfully the bed was comfortable but that’s the only positive thing i can say about this pretty run down hotel. It needs a complete overhaul.

Nice, classic place
We enjoyed our stay. While the property is older that is part of the charm. Our first room had no hot water but we were able to move to another room the next morning. Overall the staff was very accommodating. We would stay again.

Nasty staff
Got a call a call the night before our stay that they were trying to pull money out but it wouldn’t go through. I told the lady I picked the option to pay at the hotel because I was splitting the trip with my mother. Lady got super rude with me and said “ugh I don’t know why hotels.com does this to us that’s not an option” I said no problem and was going to give her the card number. She said our systems are down so I can’t take payment. But she assured me I was fine and my reservation was confirmed. The following morning before heading out on the 8 hour drive to get there I got a confirmation email confirming our stay and how much it was going to cost. Perfect.
2 hours before we arrived at the hotel I got a phone call from a woman named charlotte how had to be one of the nastiest people I have ever encountered in my entire life. She was calling to inform me that they were booked up and didn’t have a room for me. When I tried to talk to her she kept stopping me and interrupting me. Never once apologized and treated me like it was my fault this was happening. She said don’t worry we are getting you a room at the holiday inn. What?? I booked a stay in a historic hotel. Not a holiday inn. She basically said “you want it or not” I told her I don’t have a choice we were already driving. I swear I have never been treated so terribly before. Both women I talked to were incredibly rude but charlotte was the worst. How dare you talk to someone, anyone, the way she did. I’m disgusted
