Wander through ancient Inca ruins, marvelling at massive stone terraces and the Temple of the Sun. Hop a train to Machu Picchu or explore the Sacred Valley's colourful markets and traditional Andean villages.
Ollantaytambo is home to the Sacred Valley with impressive Inka ruins of its own. There are also several day hikes in the area including to the amazing Sun Gate which is a very rigorous hike. We preferred stayig here over Aguas Calientes.

The ruins were our first Inca ruins. Definitely take a guide if someone approaches you. There are ruins on both sides of town. If you are in good shape be sure to do both. Easy access to Machu Picchu on both Peru and Inka Railways

Very charming town. Was fun to explore the cobblestone streets to find hidden gem restaurants and cafes. Nestled among Incan ruins and beautiful views of the river and mountains.

I loved Ollantaytambo, so quaint. I could have stayed a bit longer there just relaxing, trying restaurants and discovering the town a bit more.

The Inca ruins are remarkable, the newer part of town no so much. People are extremely nice.

Parwa Guest House

"We had a lovely stay at the Parwa Guest House. Our room had a wonderful view overlooking the ruins in Ollyantaytambo. It was also very convenient for walking to the train station for our early morning trip to Machu Picchu. The owner recommended a restaurant in the square which ended up being one of the best meals of our trip. Highly recommended!"
"Great property, very close to the train station and walkable to the ruins. Went above and beyond when I left my jacket there after the stay and arranged to have it returned."
"We stayed in the hanging glass capsule. What an adventure! However, safety was top priority. Views are amazing. Property is family owned and Eddy, one of the owners, was on site as well as offered zip lining or hiking. We were greeted with local drink then dinner and breakfast were delicious. The capsule has a jacuzzi with unreal views that we took advantage of! Capsule accommodates up to 4 people and is a unique experience Highly recommend for the adventure seeker. "
"This place was nothing less than an oasis of peacefulness in a chaotic place. After a long day of Machu Picchu adventure (4:30AM to 7pm) we were greeted by the owner to see if we needed anything. The staff and the owner continually went out of the way to make our stay great. Filtered water in the room and bottled water available for purchase at the front desk. Breakfast was very good too! "
