Great stay- this hotel is clean and stylish and adhering to all the CDC pandemic guidelines for hospitality.
The property is wonderful and conveniently located. 99% of the staff was wonderful, warm and professional. On 1 evening we had an issue with a staff member. Around 11pm we were sitting in front of the fireplace, in the lounge/restaurant having a glass of wine. We were the only people in the very spaciois lounge. The front desk attendant approached and essentially yelled us for not being masked. He was the only short, dark haired member of the staff as far as I recall. All other males were tall. As I understand, being seated we could have them off but that's neither here nor there. We put them on and headed to our room. Being a hotel employee I would hazzard a guess that people staying with you are from away? Maybe be prepared to ask or explain things in a civil manner? Otherwise the rest of the staff was great! I get the covid fatigue angle, truly, I've worked through the entire pandemic, however maybe a take a losition in the hotel not working with the general public if you are not euipped to? Overall wonderful stay
We spent one night at the Hoxton. We were especially excited to check out the rooftop and all of the views. At check-in, the front desk staff casually mentioned it was easy to eat at the rooftop – we just had to drop by the hostess desk + make a reservation. Since there was no indication the rooftop restaurant would be so hard to eat at that night, we thought we would decide later if we wanted to eat there. A few hours later, I tried calling the restaurant. No one answers the phone and I'm directed to book online. Figuring the front desk could help us since we were hotel guests, we called there but they said the host was too busy to pick up the phone. We called back and they finally connected us with the host who let us know they had a huge line and was completely booked for the night. As guests, I wish we had been warned this might happen or offered a workaround. Everyone we spoke with was extremely stand-offish. Due to COVID, they also didn’t allow to go up in the morning to take a few quick photos of the view. That night, we went to bed around 11pm. At around 1am, were woken up by someone jiggling our door handle + trying to get in. We were both scared + drowsy but we didn't see anyone at the door. 5 minutes later they banged aggressively on our door – we asked what they wanted and a man (not dressed in hotel apparel...) yelled "oh, they told me this room was was vacant" and walked away. I have no idea what that was about. We left with a bad taste in our mouths.
The registration staff were very helpful. Because of covid restrictions, we had to go out for breakfast. The young woman at the desk gave us 5 recommendations. The one we chose was excellent. One rather odd aspect of the hotel is that one enters on street level, descends one level and walks through a lounge/dining area to get to registration, which is a rather small area. We had to ask the maitre 'd, who was at street level seating diners, for directions to registration as there did not appear to be signs.
Nice cozy room with a beautiful view of the city.
Spectacular, view, location, hotel look and vibe and helpful friendly staff....loved everything about it and they really worked to make you feel comfortable about steps they have made to keep their guests healthy despite Covid. We had a wonderful experience overall!
Staff was amazing. The hotel is very nice. Clean great location.
This hotel is beautiful. I loved the decor and the thoughtful details throughout. The hospitality was outstanding. The location is superb too! However, given that it's a 4-star hotel, I was a bit disappointed by some of the amenities. There was only one bottle of water in the fridge (which I hope I am not charged for!) and NO water glasses. Not ideal because I was staying there with my partner. I remember reading that the hotel included free breakfast, but it turns out they charge you $4 for a bagged continental breakfast--a mushy banana, small orange juice, and a granola bar. I understand this is due to the pandemic, but I wasn't too pleased about having to pay for it when it was advertised as being free. The second night of our stay, we weren't even given the option for the bagged breakfast. (You place a paper bag with your selections outside the door and the food is delivered the next morning. But the next day, they didn't give us a new bag / menu to fill out for the following morning.) The TV was disappointing too. Obviously no one comes to NYC to watch TV! But we already live in Brooklyn and just came on a stay-cation. We don't have cable at home so I was looking forward to vegging out and channel surfing. The TV is really slow when it comes to changing channels and waiting for new stations to load. Periodically the connection would also be lost, saying "LAN cable disconnected" or something. Not the biggest deal but again, I expect more from a luxury hotel.
Amidst Covid so restaurant and bar were closed, but it’s a great location in Brooklyn, staff was helpful.
The room was small but has what we needed, nice room and the view, very clean.
