The most beautiful hotel in a perfect location. We were a little worried because of how cheap it was, but were pleasantly surprised. Our room was stunning, spacious (by Japanese standards) with a great layout and multi-use door to alter the bathroom size, and had wonderful amenities. We loved the ‘amenities bar’ in the lobby which allows for less waste. Super eco-friendly. The tea bar, with hot and cold options, was a highlight for us that we utilised every afternoon - perfect for a quick pick me up between adventures. Breakfast wasn’t our style (seemed very seafood oriented) so we gave it a miss and walked 30 seconds to 7/11 instead (so convenient!). You couldn’t get a better location if you tried. In a nice quiet side street, but a 1 minute walk to Kyoto station. Literally around the corner. The staff were friendly, had great English (a huge bonus and so helpful for us), and went above and beyond to help in any way they could. They recognised guests and made it feel like you were returning home after a day out. The whole hotel has a very calm feeling about it, which we both loved, and that helped us relax. If I had to pick a downside, the only thing that comes to mind is the pillows - they were uncomfortable at first but once we were used to them, not a problem.

What I like for REF Kyoto.
What I like are 1. The lobby, it is clean, spacious, multifunction. It looks like co-working space, canteen, meeting point. 2. Breakfast is better than I expect. It has local style and internation style mixed. And it is tasty both. Drink are also valuety. I lime Japanese tea mix with rice grain. 3. Room is clean and spacious. 4. Location is not far from train station.

Very good and pleasant stay
Very pleasant stay. Interior is bright and new. Squeaky clean. Room size is small as usual for japan hotels but comfortable. Free refreshments at lobby. Located across kyoto shinkansen station. There are elevators and escalators at the station for easy transport of luggages to the hotel. Just that for my room, the air con will be blowing directly to the face.
