    Family Trip

The room was unusual because of the history of the building but it was very nice. The owner was quite accommodating. We enjoyed our stay.

    Nice Overnight Stay in Cumberland

I stayed here overnight as part of my C&O canal towpath bike trip. The Inn is centrally located in Cumberland and very convenient to restaurants and to the C&O and Great Allegheny Path. The room was nice and clean. I received a text the day of check-in with instructions since it is 'contactless check-in'. It was strange not dealing face-to-face with a person but any questions I had were promptly answered via text. There is a garage in the back to store bikes if needed.

We were on a bike trip on the GAP/C&O trails from Pittsburgh to DC. This was the perfect place for our stop--comfortable, historic, good storage for our bikes. Having no-contact check-in was a little strange but it worked. My only real complaint was the lack of lighting in the room.

    Nicer inside than outside

Check-in instructions received by text. Unfortunately the door was locked when I arrived. But David did come by to let me in. My room was on the top floor and spacious but did not have enough light. The brightest light was by the bed and came from the bathroom. The two wall sconces could have had brighter light bulbs. Double bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. Plenty of towels in the bathroom with basic toiletries and good water pressure in the shower. The floors were creaky and add to the charm of the older building. The common areas provided coffee and tea, refrigerator, toaster and microwave. You can hear the highway traffic from my room but no noise from any other guests. Too bad spa services were not available as a massage would have been nice after a long bike ride on the GAP or C&O Canal.

Beautiful historic home as an inn

Hotel is a charming place in a totally walkable part of an adorable old town. It’s not “the best area” of town, for those who are used to cushy locales, but it’s also not a “bad part” of town. Manager texted us info about checking in, no issues there. Our room was well appointed, though the sitting area could have had armchairs instead of parsons chairs. Very comfortable queen bed (with wheels… why?) and flat tv we never used. Beautiful wood bannister, Cumberland-themed decor. Bathrooms are either shared, private but across the hall, or connected; ours were the latter and we liked that. The room is not soundproofed from the street outside, but it wasn’t bad on a Saturday night in the summer. Parking is out back, lots of walkable stuff, would definitely stay again.

    Amazing despite Covid setbacks

We originally booked this place specifically to get my wife a massage since we had been cycling for 5 days straight. Didn’t find out till later that they are doing no spa services at the moment because of Covid. This was a huge disappointment for us and seemed like a waste of money since they don’t serve any kind of breakfast either so it felt like more money for less of an experience. The place was really nice and the room was just what we needed. What put this place over the top for us was the absolutely excellent service by David! This man made our stay here feel very personal. He went above and beyond anything we had expected and singlehandedly made us not regret our decision to stay here. We would definitely come back and had already recommended it to passing cyclists who asked about places to stay in Cumberland.

I really liked the directions and check in, plus a garage to lock our bikes was awesome. Our room was in the attic, so steps, steps and more steps, plus a little warm. They did have a fan in there as well. TV reception was really poor. We were biking so not spending tons of time in the room, but be aware of steps, steps and more steps! Clean facility, just not a typical "hotel."
