Too delapidated to justify staying
Probably 20 years ago this hotel was amazing, but today it is derelict and run down. Despite extremely friendly and helpful staff and a good location, these do not compensate for the poor state of conservation of this hotel. During my stay there was no hot water nor fresh water coming out of the pipes, the room although clean was worn and uninviting and the public areas were dilapidated.
The majority of the items in the restaurant menu were not available, however I did have a good barracuda steak.
The view from the room was very pleasant but it was not enough to compensate staying here.

Mombasa Beach Hotel

Our stay was good except that you charged us toooooo much for the dinner!!!! A hotel like yours has to have a receipt for each payment, be it drinks or food!
There was no menu! We were served with a dinner buffet and expected to pay a lot. You do not negotiate for the price of food!! This was inappropriate!!!
Swimming pool has to be cleaned, the hotel itself needs renovation!

This hotel was probably very nice a few decades ago, but a refresh of the hall and the bedrooms is overdue.

The grounds are beautiful with flowering bushes and shrubs, palm trees full of birds and monkeys. The pool is inviting, clear and clean. The breakfast buffet satisfied the pickiest eaters and boasted many options including those for westerners. Our room had a balcony which faced the ocean and we thoroughly enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets, the boats bobbing up and down and the ocean noises.
The rooms were terrible! Our sliding glass door would not close all the way, we had no cold water in our sink, the rack in the bathtub fell off the wall, and everything was very run down. Our friends' room had no air conditioning (and it's hot and humid), and no hot water at all. (they were given another room). We had 8 people in our group and all of us had multiple issues with the rooms. Very poorly maintained.

Like a bad dream come true.
It was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. First it is owned by the Gov., so they don't care much about it. There is mold rot through out the place. At first there was no water. After I complained and three hours later we had water. Never did get hot water. And the toilet never did flush. I asked the Manager to have someone come and fix it, she said she would but never did, so I used a bucket to flush it. None of the phones work. No safe. No fridge. AC condenses inside the room. Two TVs neither one worked. LIke I said it is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and I travel a lot. I will never go back there again. NOT worth the money you save. Hotels.com should take this one off its site. Oh, and to top if off, the cold water that did come out of the shower was salt water, no fresh water. I know this sound unbelievable but I swear it really happened..hehehe
