The hotel property is not opulent and our room was a bit small and mostly unimpressive. It’s an old building with character (a bird cage elevator in the middle of the stairwell takes you to the lobby) which houses an old European-style hotel. Once you accept these truths, everything about the experience here is great.
The location was perfect for a week in Rome. Plenty of restaurants bars shops and people around, and very close to the Spanish steps and other sites. Coming back at night, through the tiny cobblestone streets, was the perfect way to end the day. Lots of people out in the neighborhood so you feel extremely safe. The energy is great.
The staff was remarkable and helpful at every turn, from calling cars/taxis for us, to helpful tips about viewing the city. They set up a private car to pick us up at the airport which was great after a long flight. Breakfast room was wonderful and the people working there were cheerful and attentive.
Rome was unseasonably hot the week we were there but our room was freezing cold. Because of the prime location, we could use the hotel for breaks throughout the day.
The reasons to stay here are the location and helpful staff. The people there are simply great.
