If coming in from the train, this is a great location. It's a 5 minute walk from the station, and while off the beaten path to an extent, proved to be a perfect beginning and ending point for our wanderings. The hotel itself is quaint, comfortable and clean. It certainly feels old, in a good way. The only real qualm we had was that the bathroom in our room was a little weird. Served its purpose just fine though. Bed was comfortable, the breakfast is great and the location is very quiet. The center of the city is about a 10 minute walk. Overall, I think the Egmond is a great value and resides in a very nice location making it easy to see the city, and get back and forth from the Train station without having to go by taxi, or figure out alternative transportation. While it is not a 5 star resort hotel, it was perfect for us, and for the price offered a great value in a near perfect package. One thing though, if you will be arriving after around 5 or 6 in the afternoon, make sure to call so that they can leave your key out at the desk, and give you the door code to get in.
