Overall, our stay at the Sao Gabriel Hotel was disappointing. The hotel was being decorated and we left our room the first morning to be met by a building site. For a 4 night stay, we ended up having 3 different rooms (all below standard). There were some good points:- Breakfast was adequate, location was good and staff were friendly. I would not stay here again and am currently in contact with the online booking company regarding the standards that guests should expect from a hotel rated on their website.

The door came off my shower during my 2-night stay and unfortunately it was not replaced. Breakfast choice was very limited and there was nothing hot - not even toast was available.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was continental, no Eggs. Parking for my rental car was next door, easy to roll luggage in. Our room was very small (2 star hotel), but comfortable. Though the air conditioner broke on Saturday and they couldn’t get a technician to fix it on the weekend. Luckily, the window opened and there were no bugs, so we slept well. The neighborhood is run down, but only 2 streets from the Mercado and walking street (Catarina), and Metro stop.

This run. down flop house does not deserve to be listed. Broken furniture amenities not replaced room not cleaned in four days. Breakfast area too small to accomodate the number of guests.The only thing positive about the place is that the staff at the desk was very helpful and pleasant.
