Better to sleep under the bridge!
I checked in late at night and upon entering the room I smelled mold. I opened the window, but the smell did not go away. Since it was December, I caught a little cold overnight and in the morning, even with a runny nose, I still felt a persistent smell. Mold is extremely dangerous for the lungs and I went downstairs to ask to change my room. Leaving the room, I noticed that in the two neighboring rooms the doors were open and an employee was doing something in the ceiling in the corridor. I came closer and there was a terrible smell coming from the ventilation. At the reception, a man named Carmine said that there were no rooms available for replacement and refused to refund the money for the next 2 nights, also saying that he knew nothing about the problem despite old signs of mold near my vent and bathroom baseboard. I had to call Expedia support and tell them about the situation. Expedia offered me another hotel. Giving the key from room 318, I told Carmine that mold has a very negative impact on health and can lead to lung cancer, but what he told me verbatim: “For the money you paid, you want a suite.” I was disappointed by the behavior of the administrator, who does not understand the essence of what is happening and hid the problem with mold before check-in.
