An alternative to Bora Bora
This was a great stay. It's isolated and quiet, but it was a great part of an overall trip to French Polynesia. Here you can disconnect with everything else going on. Such a contrast with Bora Bora. Be sure to get out and explore the rest of the island.

Not sure to recommend
Our bungalow was very nice and big, the cleaning was the minimum. The hotel needs urgently big renovation, we were told they started. The pool was out of service and the restaurant not very nice apart from sitting in the deck. The food very good and service. We found a little expensive the airport transfer for a 10 min drive, we paid the same amount for 30 min.

Bungalows with a View
Accessible on by boat, this complex is beautifully situated over a lagoon on the island of Huahine. The hotel offered tranquility, calm waters, and amazing sunsets. The staff was welcoming a made us feel right at home. Free canoeing, snorkeling equipment, and kayaking!

Not worth the price I paid
I spent 5 nights here on a trip with my sister, boyfriend, and best friends. The facilities are in desperate need of a deep clean (on our first night, we discovered that our sheets had someone else's blood on them) and a serious upgrade (some of our lights and power outlets didn't work, our toilet also was clogged when we arrived, the place was infested with mosquitos, and all of our towels were frayed). The wifi is limited to the hotel lobby and it barely works even when few people are using it (which is rarely the case). Definitely bring water shoes as there is a lot of coral in the water, and your own snorkeling equipment because the hotel's are full of gross mold. The location is absolutely beautiful, however you need to use the hotel's boat shuttle if you want to get around, and it is often over booked for the times you want to use it. The hotel's employees were nice, but their level of customer service could use serious work as they do not go out of their way to accommodate guests after serious mistakes (it took 5 hours and 3 asks to get the dirty sheets changed the first day of our stay). The food was good, but it was always the same menu, and the drinks at the bar were good, however the bar is only open from 6-9pm. I would not return to this hotel in the future. Instead, I would spend a bit more money to stay at one of the nicer resorts on the island because this was not at all worth the price I paid.

AWESOME stay at Royal Huahine
We LOVED Royal Huahine. Best decision of place to stay on our French Polynesian 2-week vacation. We are right now at overwater bungalow on Bora Bora, and we both liked the Royal Huahine OWB better. There is actually coral and fish at Royal Huahine. Snorkeling is MUCH better. Food was great. This is not a 5-star, posh resort like you get on Bora Bora, but you also don't have 15 million people and 10 jetskis an hour blasting by. Go here. You will love it if you are a reasonable person...

An okay stay
This was a very hard review to write. The location is amazing, but there are a few small things that hold it back. Cleanliness was okay, it wasn’t amazing, but it is on the beach so it’s to be expected. There is going to be a good amount of sand/dust/insects/lizards etc. The amenities are okay, this hotel is by itself so it’s the only option for food (which shows in the food prices). It’s pretty isolated, but they do have a shuttle boat to take you to the main town (which is tiny as well). But you come to Huahine for isolation, so it might be a plus. The location is amazing and is why you come. It’s quiet for the most part. It’s where you come to relax and enjoy the beach. The service is hit or miss. Sometimes the staff was happy to help, other times it seemed like they weren’t too happy to help. All in all it’s not a good enough hotel to make me return, especially after visiting other hotel in French Polynesia. You definitely won’t have a bad experience, but it won’t be the best place you have ever stayed.

Hotel & grounds are beautiful. Staff are friendly and helpful. The down side is the service to the water bungloo rooms. THERE IS NONE! You want ice? Walk 5 mins to restaurant & they’ll get you some. No mini bar in rooms, so ...need a coke or water, walk to the bar/restaurant. A beer? U gotta take a hike ( and it’s never really cold!) Restaurant food is only average and limited entree choices( about $30 a meal)
