Looking for the best things to do after dinner in Cannes? For one, this city is best known for its annual film festival. But besides a visit to the cinema to catch a movie, there are plenty of options for night owls in this part of the French Riviera.

Once dinner has been cleared away, this upmarket resort on the shores of the Mediterranean likes to party. As a result, there are numerous bars, pubs and clubs keen to entertain you until the sun comes up again in the morning. In summer especially, the place is heaving, but even in the depths of winter, you’ll still find enough nightspots to keep you happy, particularly at weekends.

Promenade de la Croisette is the crescent-shaped road that lines the bay of Cannes. City planners laid out this important street in the 19th century, but its present-day appearance dates from a 1960s refurb.

The prominent boulevard is flanked by the Mediterranean Sea and upscale beach clubs on one side and swanky restaurants and hotels on the other. This is the place where the French like to exercise their dogs or walk off dinner as they take a stroll arm in arm beside the water.

Rue du Suquet is a narrow cobbled street lined with restaurants and bars which winds its way downhill towards Cannes’ old port. It can be hard to believe that this was once the main road in and out of the town.

Charly’s Bar is one of the most popular places on the street to have a drink as you listen to live music and DJ sets. Along the street, L’Enoteca boasts a long wine list while next door at Number 20, you’ll find La Mariska, a cocktail bar where you can order a mango mojito or an espresso martini.
