A beautiful traditional style (but modern) hotel close to the station at Yumoto in the heart of Hakone. Ideal base for exploring the mountains, spas and lakes around Mount Fuji.

We loved the room which was clean and spacious with great amenities, however there was a slight damp smell. The rooftop onset was amazing albeit rather hot so we had to keep adding cold water the entire time we were in it and only used it once for that reason. The property would be improved with an option for breakfast.

Our stay at Hotel Zagakukan was fantastic! The surrounding area is beautiful and close to the subway station and bus stops. Although the hotel is only rated a 2.5 star, this felt like a 5 star hotel with all the amenities provided and the quality of the room. The room was huge and super clean, and of course the best part was the private roof top onsen! Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone taking a break from the bustling big cities.

Loved it
This hotel stay was a dream. Such a comfortable bed, spa-like bathroom setup with hot spring water in the bath. There were comfortable yukatas, pajamas and slippers available for use. We can’t wait to come back!

Very convenient location in Hakone. We booked a room with the private onsen and it was so worth it. Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to book a place to stay in Hakone that is also close and in walking distance from Hakone Yumoto Station.

This was a fabulous hotel. The bathrooms was incredible and had everything you could need. I wish my bathroom at home was like this. The beds were cozy and I wish I could have taken the beautiful yukata home with me. The lights are adjustable and create a very nice ambiance. I would highly recommend this hotel when staying in Hakone.

Nice room but hotel with no extra amenities like laundry; bathroom light is automatic and no way to disable overnight. When we checked in we were asked if we could be out of our room for three hours the next day for construction on our room starting at 1pm, at 8:45am someone tried to get in our room without knocking, luckily we had it locked. The bathroom and tub was very nice, only reason to book this hotel in my opinion.
