We stayed in KAI Kawaji before and had excellent experience. But this time is a disappointment. The staffs were great but dining is underwhelming and disappointing. We stayed 3 nights and each day is getting worse and worse. We booked a massage and didn't show up until I called. Also, we caught a waiter drank from the glass the guest left which was disgusting.

Upscale Ryokan Experience
Upscale ryokan experience that was impeccable from the get-go. Amenities and room were extremely cosy. Half-board meals especially dinner was of top quality Kaiseki standard. Only let-down was that the each bed only came prepped with one pillow that was too flat and thin for a quality night’s rest.

All rooms had a private onsen and balcony with beautiful views of the Japanese mountainside.
