Business Hotels in Shanghai

Shanghai's a city on the go 24/7. During the day rushed businesspeople swoop in and out of huge cooperate offices, fighting for space on the pavements with camera-toting tourists eager to grab the perfect city snap. The city's skyscrapers pierce the skyline, while in their shadows you'll find ancient temples tucked down winding alleyways, bustling markets where locals loudly barter and traditional tea houses. It’s a city which has developed with breathtaking speed, becoming an economic giant powering the world.

Things to see

If you're in Shanghai on business, make sure you spend some of your downtime on the Bund. The bustling waterfront boulevard runs along the riverfront and is lined with colonial buildings making it a lovely, albeit busy, place to potter. Across the water the business district's illuminated skyscrapers offer an iconic view of the city. For a different sort of view, head to the towering Oriental Pearl and ascend for panoramic views of the city all the way to Yangtze. Chill out in tranquil Yuyuan Garden, listening to the gentle trickle of fountains and meander from pagoda to pagoda. Here you can also learn more about the city's rich history with a trip to its free museum. For shopping, Nanjing Road can't be beat. Its neon-drenched thoroughfare is a hive of activity day and night as shoppers rush in and out of stores and night time revelers seek out bar and bar.

Hotels in Shanghai

Shanghai's certainly not short on variety when it comes to accommodation. You'll find 5-star business hotels in Shanghai housed in soaring skyscrapers with rooftop restaurants offering jaw dropping views and respite from the crowded streets below, for example The Yangtze Boutique Shanghai. There are boutique business hotels in Shanghai where quirky art work adorns the walls and designer furniture adds elegance to rooms. There are plenty of mid-range options too, often offering business centres and spas to ensure you get the right balance between work and rest.

Where to stay

If you're here on business you're most likely want to be based in Pudong home of the Lujiazui Finance and Trade Zone and the Shanghai Stock Exchange and many of Shanghai's best-known buildings, such as the Shanghai World Financial Center and Oriental Pearl Tower. For those wanting to be in the cultural centre, the Puxi district is the perfect base as you'll be within strolling distance of iconic sights like the People’s Square, the Bund and the Shanghai Museum.

How to get to Shanghai

Pudong International Airport is the main gateway to Shanghai. Located around 40 kilometres east of downtown, you can hop on the frequent, high-speed Maglev train and be at Longyang Road Station in just 8 minutes. From there a short subway ride on Line 2 will transport you to the central People’s Square. If time's not an issue, you can also jump on the metro at the airport and make the whole journey on the subway Line 2. If arriving from elsewhere in China, you may arrive into the Hongqiao Airport, 13 kilometres to the south. It is connected by the same subway line.
