2/10 Poor

Don't let the pictures of this place fool you - what a truly awful place to stay. I can only imagine that this is student accommodation and that the owners are trying to make a bit of extra money by renting out some of the rooms. Before arrival, the owners send you two codes which are used to let yourself in to the property. There was no toilet roll available in the shared toilets, so I had to pop out and buy some of my own. I had the misfortune of staying in room 7, which was situated on the top floor and included an en suite. Impressive as this sounds, the en suite compromised of what I can only describe as a box stuck in the corner of the bedroom. There's no shower cubicle or sufficient draining, so as you shower the water covers the whole room (toilet and sink included) and takes hours to drain, meaning you can't use the bathroom without having soaking wet feet afterwards. The place was extremely noisy (I assume with permanent residents) and I can honestly say I had a terrible nights sleep here because I was constantly on edge that a stranger would come knocking at my door. Don't let the price fool you - it really isn't worth it to stay here!

Cozy

There's a Bus stop right in front of the building which is a plus, everything was clean except the bathroom but you're staying with people who actually live there so it depends on if they clean or not. Otherwise it was nice and you can cook with the dishes provided, use the fridge, washer and dryer. The tenants are nice too.

Small B&B without the breakfast

Small house. Essentially B&B without the breakfast and the owners live elsewhere. Shared kitchen with very few utensils. Very small rooms, but perfectly adequate for the price. The house is kept in good condition.

2/10 Poor

Like staying in a DHSS hostel

The "hotel" is just an ordinary house, with some of the rooms subdivided. There is no-one to meet you. You are sent combination codes for key boxes outside the front door and your room. You have use of the kitchen and you could cook for yourself if you wished. There is a shower room and a separate bathroom, and the water was just about hot enough in both. Unfortunately the people staying in a couple of the other rooms came back at 3.10am and started chatting and making drinks in the kitchen, right outside our door. The guys were apologetic about waking us up and probably hadn't realised we had moved into the room, but the incident exposed a basic design flaw with this accommodation, which cannot truly be called a hotel. It is just a house and is not soundproofed any more than any modern house would be. The other problem is with the keyboxes. The codes are so basic that it is possible to guess the codes on every door in the house, so we didn't feel our possessions were secure. Even if the codes were changed to something more imaginative, then there remains the problem that the mechanical combination has to be physically scrambled after each use of the box, and sooner or later someone will forget to do it. An electronic system (like the ones used in auto-hotels in France) would be required to overcome this problem. The room was cheap and it was close to Warwick Uni campus (which is why we chose it), but we won't be going back.

Budget acommondation in Coventry

Room was small but clean. The hotel does not have a reception, but the passenger will receives the code for the lock to be opened. There are no services around in the one kilometer radius. Protected P-range. Breakfast can be prepared in the kitchen itself. Distance to Coventry city approx. 5,5 km by car. Wi-Fi works well, no TV.
