Overbooked
The hotel was overbooked when we arrived. (Seems like the manager didn't check bookings from hotels.com). The hotel ended up giving us a room at a much cheaper hotel, without giving us any kind of compensation.
Further, the hotel offered us a transfer to the airport more expensive than a taxi and tuc tuc.

Don't risk it
We weren't originally booked at the boutique, but because we were tobbed inHikkaduwa we wanted to get close to the airport to leave. Upon arriving we were informed there were no tooms but we could go to their other hotel the Blue Elephant (not the boutique). Looked really nice but the staff was horrible to us. They argued in front of us about hotels.com and how we didn't pay enough to stay there, etc. finally got into our room and they turned the air on for us and ahowed us around. The bathroom stunk really bad but we didn't care. We were just happy to be safe. Next morning had breakfast and then at 11:40 they banged on the door and told us to get out because its past check out. We sat in lobby until our driver got there. Once he got there they told us we owe 1000 more ruppees for using the air conditioner. We couldn't believe it especially since it waa so hot and they were the ones to turn it on.
I imagine the boutique hotel would have been nice but since we were moved to their larger guest house it was a nightmare.
Dont ever stay there! Fair warnings abd safe travels

Très bien situé, chambre confortable, une décoration soignée, une réception ouverte 24/24 très pratique en cas de vol arrivant très tard. C'était d'ailleurs pour nous un critère essentiel.

Achtung Betrug!
Ich hatte eine Nacht in dem Blue Elephant Guest House gebucht und bin nach der Ankunft am Flughafen abends um 22 Uhr dort angekommen. Der Angestellte an der Rezeption konnte anscheinend meine Buchung nicht finden und das Hotel war ansonsten ausgebucht. Auch das Vorzeigen der ausgedruckten Buchungsbestätigung brachte keinen Erfolg. Es hat nur genießen, der Chef will bei Expedia anrufen.
Musste mir dann abends noch eine andere Unterkunft suchen.
Am nächsten Tag bin ich nochmal vorbei. Der Chef hat die ganze Schuld Expedia zugeschoben. Auf Nachfrage bei Expedia wurde aber zweimal eine Buchungsbestätigung vom Hotel an Expedia gesandt.
Ganz offensichtlich hat das Hotel hier betrogen und das Geld eingeheimst ohne eine Gegenleistung zu erbringen.
