The entire property is unique! It is a RANCH in the high desert. You do not come here for a resort poolside relaxation vacation! You come to ENJOY the isolated kick back atmosphere and beauty of the high desert as presented by family members with ties back to the very early 1800s.

Outstanding hospitality.
The hospitality at this family-owned-and-run lodging and working cattle ranch was outstanding. Grand Canyon Ranch and Outfitters was my wife and kids' favorite stay of our week-plus family vacation in several states. Clean, quiet, comfortable, with loads of hearty, good food. Cowboy Mark was exceptionally kind to our kids in showing them the barn, horses, chicken coop, campfire smores, etc. Our dogs had a fine time, too. We hope to return for another stay in the future.

Great experience, especially for kids, we knew it was more of a rustic experience and so we were totally up for that being from a large city, the beds were very comfortable, the staff was very friendly. We stayed up past the generator turn off just to see the stars!

Wonderful place a bit off the grid
Positives : our host, debbie and the Staff and the complimentary breakfast were superb.Beds were extremely comfortable. Wonderful campfire and smores at night. Community space was warm and inviting. Sunset was magnificent.friendly dogs to greet us. Negatives: .we were surprised to find that there was no electricity after 10 pm, and bathrooms and showers were in a separate building. We did adjust, however this information should have been on the website. This was fun for one or two nights, but would not have been enjoyable for a longer stay.

Peace & Quiet in the Old West
Grand Canyon Ranch & Outfitters is AH-MAZING!! The only downside to this trip was that we only needed to stay one night. My husband and I definitely plan on going back. A working cattle ranch that has belonged to a family for 7 generations is obviously doing something right! Normally, this is a place where people come to work and herd cattle (for that Ol' West experience) but just to take in the views and peace and quiet...ahhh! It's important to know what you're getting into though. This is first and foremost a cattle ranch. There is no steady source of electricity. You are given (battery operated) lanterns for your cabins. A generator is run for so many hours in the morning and then again at night so electrical devices can be charged during those times (in the saloon). Honestly, though, if you come to stay here, you're not going to be using those devices a whole lot. This is a place where you disconnect. There are board games, a beautiful chessboard, free cookies and beverages all in the saloon. The showers are in a separate building but don't fear, these facilities would make some of your "regular" hotels jealous. But remember, if you want hot water, shower while the generator is running and don't forget your lantern if it's dark out. The food. Oh, the food! Good, hearty ranch style cooking. This is the type of food you'd expect if you're about to go and work out in the field all day and it's delicious! Cannot wait to go back!!!

Nice quiet place to stay
A really nice quiet place to stay. Out in the middle of nowhere with no distractions from such things as TV or wifi. And the best thing of all is you can really see the stars at night.

A nice ranch experience!
I booked this hotel with a bit of hesitancy considering it was a ranch, but it turned out to be a very memorable stay. The rooms were clean, the shared bath house was also clean and had lots of fresh towels. Debby was very kind and I loved the personal touch that she gave to the place. The ranch gives you a 360 degree view around, it's away from the light pollution (starry nights!) and of course the neighing horses. Tip - since it's located away from the city, remember to arrange your meals in advance.

6/10 Good

This accommodation is not for everyone. If you like basic, primitive accommodation then this is for you. Good breakfast and friendly people generous with their snacks and since it is a working ranch it is interesting. Rooms have no electricity or AC, although this did not create a problem for us. Overall it was too highly priced for what you got..

western roadtrip
Daughter and I roadtripped to the west for awesome spots. This definitely fit our requirements, a working ranch with awesome food and even better hosts. Sitting by the fire at night, waking up to beautiful ranch land in a home type setting.

Such a peaceful place
Wow. Loved it. Our kids were apprehensive about the remote location and electricity at only certain times. But as their parents we made the executive decision to book this place. Absolutely no regrets. It was so refreshing and the food was fabulously cooked by Debbie. You gotta try this. My 12 year old daughter loved the 2dogs and the horses.
