Great employees working at a tired hotel.
The staff were incredible and very helpful. They fulfilled every request you had. If my review was entirely about the employees at the hotel, it would be a five star rating.
The hotel itself is a bit tired. For the level of accommodations, you would expect the bathroom to be modern. The antiquated tub, showerhead, lack of hot water and overall cleanliness were definite detractions. At one point in time we found a blood stain on our blanket which was disturbing.
I felt bad for the hotel staff because the guests and their respective children were running wild. The guests disregarded rules, including children swimming in the adults only pool, aggressively chasing birds throughout the outdoor tables and behind kitchen work stations, etc. However, the staff were unable to do anything to resolve this problem presumably due to professional deference to these unruly guests. It was disheartening to see the employees standing by without being empowered to correct these behaviors.
We had four spa treatments. The massages were great, the manicures and pedicures were severely lacking, and the ambience of the spa was pretty nonexistent. While in the treatment, you could hear noise from the nearby restaurant, loud voices, and there was no music or white noise to overcome these auditory distractions.
Lastly, you should prepare yourself for the fact that there are many mosques nearby, thus you will hear the call to prayer early in the morning.
