Great staff!
Got there and as soon as I walked in it smelled nice and clean. Little bit of construction on the property but it wasn’t an issue! Staff was super friendly and very accommodating! The light in the bathroom was real low so they put us in another room with no issues!

Football weekend
Family drove in for sports event. Workers very nice . Hotel under renovation so some areas not open. Heater/ac unit very loud throughout the night.

2/10 Poor

Only stay as a last resort.
Not a great stay. Location is the only thing that was good about this hotel. Run down, outdated, not even named correctly. Booked this hotel as the Starkville inn however the sign outside said Clarion. Every single guest that walked in during our check-in was also confused and asking the understaffed front desk clerk the same exact question. I would not opt to stay here again unless everything else was booked or I had an absolute need to stay close to the university. No working ice machine on site, only water available was from an old school cooler. Breakfast left everything to be desired. They had one k-cup keurig for coffee. For the price on a game weekend, definitely NOT worth it. 100% felt like we were bamboozled! Actually a sad state of affairs.

Adequate
The hotel is in process of being updated. My room was clean and adequate. The hallways, elevator, and lobby had ongoing renovations, so places were a bit dusty and sketchy--for example, there was a couch propped sideways in the hallway beside the elevator. If you don't mind getting to the room itself, it's a reasonable place to stay in a town of overpriced hotels. Despite what the site says, you can not walk to campus, but the drive is short and easy.

Nice staff and comfortable beds. Found part of a potato chip in one of the beds. Everything in the halls were dusty. No ice machines were working. Breakfast was not great, no protein options.

Clean, Comfortable & Affordable
It was a quick and easy checkin. The front desk person was extremely polite and professional. The hotel was clean and proficient. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast the next morning was well stocked. The check-out was easy and the guy was super nice! I'd definitely stay here again!

Beds were comfortable, shower was good - but no hair dryers in bathrooms. Could not get extra blankets when requested. Also there was no real breakfast - a few muffins was it. The hotel is in transition with new ownership - hoping it gets better with the service in future.

2/10 Poor

When I went in room there was what appeared to be grease and glitter on the desk. TV did not work. No soap in bathroom. Entire room was dirty. I found cleaning cart, took rag and cleaning solution and cleaned room myself. The cleaning crew then complained that I took their rag. RIDICULOUS!!! I was glad it was a boys trip and that we both had our pistols. If my wife or daughter had been with me, I would’ve driven to the closest available room even if it was hours away.

To get proper directions to the hotel you have to type in Microtel Inn, then the sign out front says Clarion, so there is no signage to say that you are at the Starkville Inn and Suites. Because of the construction they have taken out all vending machines and unplugged the ice machines and not given an alternative for guests. If you need something you have to go to the gas station which is nearby.

The room was clean and neat while the building was under construction. There was confusion in what the name was online and actual name, so I was a little confused when I got there.
