The location was nicer than some of the resorts that are closer into Papeete. The ocean view rooms we stayed in had a good view. One our main concerns was the noise level from the pool area, which went fairly late each evening, and noise very early in the morning from the roosters that are around the property.

Soft landing in Tahiti
After our overnight flight from California we arrived at Te Moana hotel before 7 am. The breakfast was ready and we feasted on made-to-order omelette, fresh fruit, a section of cereals, breads, and of course, lots of coffee. We didn’t pre-book the breakfast so the price tag of $45 pp was a bit steep, but worth it after the long flight. The hotel provided complimentary early check-in for us at 11 am. We gratefully collapsed in bed and slept, waking up in time for a swim and early dinner. The next morning the friendly and professional front desk staff arranged for a 7 am taxi to the airport for our flight to the Tuamotu Archipelago. This was the sixth time we chose the Te Moana as our ‘soft landing’ and we will do so again.

Dirty rooms
Our experience at Te Moana was unfortunately poor. This hotel is extremely dirty. The main entrance and the pool area was lovely and well kept. However, our hotel room was filthy. Walking on the floor resulted in a thick black film on the bottom of our feet. Our room smelt musty and like mildew. I would caution staying here if you are at all cautioned about cleanliness. I will not be staying here again.
