2/10 Poor

Brainwashed Thai staff member.
Most of the staff were very nice and pleasant. There was one lady from the philopines who spoke a long time with me. very nice. A gentleman at night went out of hes way to get a coke for me late at night when i had work to do needed the caffine. A strange things is I flew in from Thailand , my fav country. I recognized the features, and guessed right that one lady there was Thai. I tried to speak a little Thai with her, i lived there many years. I was excited about the chance to speak with her at least a little. I did ask her to eat with me before she started work but there were to HUGE workers who threatened to Eat Her with the looks in their eyes. Must be against company policy for a worker to interact with a guest and she was esceptionally beautiful. But I was leaving soon and just wanted to talk about thailand with her. I think there is a 'thai pimp' like person controlling her or maybe they want to pay her a smaller rate and have her work the way mexicans are treated in the USA.... I don't know but she seemed worried about getting in trouble i din't Need to meet with outside her work however she seemed worried and I hope the hotel isnt treating her badly. One of the staff did try to sell her to me and I told him that was disgusting the called it a bar fine. She was very professional but I think should have some freedome, she would say she's too busy and walk away , crazy behavior I hope upper staff isnt abuising her.

The good, the bad and the ugly
The Good: comfortable room, restaurant on sight, moderate rate, close to public transportation, airport shuttle access, generous buffet for breakfast at reasonable price. The Bad: The hotel is quite far from the town center. In-room coffee is two packets of instant coffee, no free coffee service in the lobby (which I would have expected at a Best Western), extra charge for breakfast if not booked the day before. Had some problems with one elevator and with the room key cards that suggest maintenance needs. The Ugly: The entrance to the hotel is a real turn off- cigarette buts all over and unclean front steps on the outside. Our room was a non-smoking room on the second floor. Its windows opened to a grassy balcony ledge which was also littered with cigarette buts and some trash. Not a good sight to see. These areas need to be cleaned up.

Good quality, comfortable
Hotel is in a residential neighborhood, a 20 or so minute tram ride to downtown Amsterdam; we liked the feeling of staying in a real neighborhood. Room was clean and comfortable, with the only caveat being that we were cold at night and hotel staff were unable to provide an extra blanket until the 3rd night out of our 4-night stay. Aside from the difficulties of getting a blanket, staff were pretty helpful. The lobby could be nicer and there is not much in the way of common areas outside of the room, and there are some signs of wear and tear on the facilities. On the plus side, there are two computers and a printer in the lobby that guests can use for free. Bikes are available for rental.

BW Blue Square
I have been staying at this hotel for over 7 years and for a period of 8 days per stay. last week was the worst of all. When I started staying at this hotel, everything was great. Now, everything is going backward. 1- The hotel is nice and located near some great Turkish and other north African restaurants. 2- The lobby and the front desk people are nice 3- the restaurant and the breakfast are good 4- rooms are nice size and well divided 5- here are the latest problems; this hotel is in a dire need of update, maintenance. the closets are old and without handles, the carpet is old. some of the lights are off base or worn out 6- Housekeeping: absolutely terrible, I checked in the room and had two small bars of soaps and that was it. never got another set even when I complained. I purposely dropped the empty shampoo bottles on the floor of the shower and never got these removed for the whole 8 days I stayed there. I left other minor stuff on the floor for testing and nothing was cleaned. do not look under the bad as it is a scary view. all the housekeeping did is change towels and fix the bed.

Convenient, clean, friendly.
Room was equivalent to US standards in terms of size and amenities. The room was very clean and a tram station was nearby. If you use UBER, it's approx. €20 to dam square. I would stay here again.

my friend has no legs. he had to wash in the communal toilet room. we where in the only disabled use room. he could get into and out of the hotel room fine the bathroom did not allow a wheel chair. for a twin room the beds where put together very heavy to move but the bed itself was fantastic and the pillows to sleep on. the staff are helpful and friendly. take taxi money,as the trams end at midnight.a basic hotel room but nothing else needed.

Convenient and clean hotel
We used the hotel as a base for a three day trip into Amsterdam city. There was a convenient tram to and from which was just a short walk away from the hotel. Room was extremely clean. Overall great hotel.

Great trip to Amsterdam
Was a great stay, upgraded to a larger room as we had booked and paid for 4 nights, hotel itself a little dated however, remains comfortable. Staff were very friendly, helpful and informative. Breakfast was excellent value.

Ac worked well...one of the few hotel rooms with good ac...however, it took several rooms we rejected before getting this one. Kind of far from town center, but bus 69 stops nearby ( easy to get to airport ), easy tram connection ( #7 ) to metro line 50 to city center ( with change to tram 51 ) , and easy to get to local train station for connection to Leiden, Haarlem.

4/10 Fair

Not a pleasant experience
When we first arrived, it was approximately 10:30 am and therefore, our room wasn’t yet available. That is perfectly understandable. So, with the help of a “pleasant” young man and young lady working the front desk, we placed our luggage in a secure room and went on with our day. When we returned around 17:00 we were greeted by a young lady who insisted we only had the room for “one night” instead of two nights. She was not very nice to us when we insisted we had paid for two nights. We told her we had confirmations and showed them to her. She continued to insist we only prepaid for one night and would have to call the booking agent. She was quite rude. When we were “finally” able to convince her she had us confused with someone else, she offered no apology. She still showed signs of anger toward us. As far as the room goes, there was far too much furniture for a room that size, causing us to stub our toes several times walking around the bed. There also were several long dark hairs in the bathroom on the floor. We both have blonde hair, so they weren’t ours. Also the seal on the shower door needs repair, causing water to puddle outside the shower around the commode. On our day of departure, we had to ask the front desk to follow up with the van driver to see why he was late. He said he got pulled over by the police. On the way to the airport, he was texting. I saw him doing it. That puts the lives of his passengers at risk.

Decent
Booked a last minute trip for my partners birthday. After reading other reviews, we found that we was able to pay 2.90 euros to get to the hotel from the Airport, rather than the average 30-50 euros via a taxi. The hotel seemed to be in a Turkish area, and people are friendly. The is a local outdoor market which sell fresh fruit and veg. Also located next to the hotel is a indoor shopping mall, which you can find a very nice supermarket, bank, chemist and drugstore similar to boots or superdrug along with other shops. The hotel is OK. that's all. The maids are very friendly, and the beds are very comfortable. Looking closely you can see there is could do with a little paint and new mirrors etc. But a decent hotel for the price. The shower is AMAZING! The bus to central Amsterdam is about 15-20 mins. They run about every 10 minutes. You can also get the Tram. The last bus from Central Amsterdam is just after midnight. This was OK for us, as by this time we had enough and just wanted to get back. The hotel staff are very friendly. You can order a takeaway via them, they also give you a lot of information as a tourist too! Would I stay there again? 50/50... I would if needs be, but would prefer to stay closer to central Amsterdam.
