Great experience
The hotel was very close to the train station and within walking distance to most of the tourist attractions.

An OK stay but let down by little things
A nice place to stay and nice and close to everything. But a few things could make it better. Being an international visitor it would have been nice to have had a room with a view, not in the basement next to the staff storeroom, really bad. The room was small and similar with the bathroom but practical, very dull, not much lighting at all and no windows with any light coming in. Under the bed was filthy, lots of dust and some nuts someone else must have had before us. The 2 single beds did not even meet properly and the mattress on my side was too big for the bed which kept slipping off which meant I fell into the middle gap a few times. Breakfast was OK but nothing "Dutch", just normal bread and milk not even kept in the fridge. TV was the worst I have seen, apart from the tiny size and not being able to adjust the bright red color even in the menu settings the content was poor. No cable tv at all so it is pointless having this, and no bedside table on one side. The staff were very nice and helpful.

Quirky but wonderful hotel.
Our third stay at Max Brown. It’s a quirky hotel in a wonderful spot only 10 minutes walk from Centraal Station. It’s position on the lovely Herengracht is perfect. Staff are welcoming and charming. They know the area and give useful advice. They also produce wonderful g & t s and even toasted sandwiches. Rooms are microscopic but amusingly furnished. There’s no lift and stairways are narrow and steep. Breakfast is self service and copious, though you have to be quick to grab a nice table. All in all it is just fun. But don’t expect luxury.

Very Good8.0
Our stay was very pleasant; the staff were keen and helpful, the breakfast adequate. I am glad I upgraded to a room with canal view otherwise I would have been very disappointed - the rooms without canal view looked very dark and small.
