Guide from a desert tour called all the riads and this one was the only one who refused to send someone to meet the van. From what I understand it was the owner. Considering how confusing the ages medina is this was a shock. Check in was good, facilities are beautiful at first sight. There was a lot of dust and some dead flies in the room. The shower head was broken, it would spray in all directions. Water was lukewarm, unfortunate with the huge tub in the bathroom. I went out for dinner and drinks the first night and when I returned I couldn’t get back in. I used the buzzer 4 times. Thankfully I was with a friend and his family had an extra room. Otherwise I would have been stranded as a solo female traveller. When I returned the next day I couldn’t find any staff to speak with about this. When I returned from a tour of Fez at 6pm my room hadn’t been cleaned. I had a full garbage and no more toilet paper. On my last day I tried to bathe, the shower head broke completely. When I went to check out I couldn’t find someone at first. The best staff member was this gentleman. I mentioned I needed to get a taxi to the train station and he actually took me there. Honestly, it’s kind of odd here, it’s empty most of the time, including empty of staff. I find it frustrating that I paid for two nights and couldn’t even enter my first night. Overall…beautiful spot but needs updating and more cleaning. Service is lacking.
