2/10 Poor
11 August 2020
Having travelled over 250 miles we arrived at the apartment.
Problem No.1 - The surrounding area was littered with dumped items, a sofa, beds, car parts etc, it looked like a junk yard.
No.2 - Bearing in mind I had paid in advance, and had confirmation of our booking. - We arrived to find the apartment already occupied by a family who arrived eariler in the day and had paid more.. We had had no communication from the `hotel` despite my previous email requesting check in information.
So, it`s 9.30pm and we have nowhere to stay...
I phoned Expedia.. For the next 90 mins a young lady was trying her very best to help us, despite (as far as we could see) there were absolutely no vacancies in the area at all. She called regularly to update us, six times in total. Then.. eureka! She had found excellent accommodation for us for both nights!
Thank you Expedia! An outstanding level of assistance and willingness to help saved us from a 250 mile drive home in the dead of night and the loss of our (well earned) weekend break. We truly cannot thank the lady who helped us enough! 11/10 in every respect.
Respectively, to the owner of our booked and paid for apartment: We understand that you told Expedia that "There was a problem with the booking". As you well know, there was not. Very simply, you double booked, giving priority to the later booking because they had paid more.. leaving us with our short holiday in tatters..In one simple word.. Despicable.. 0/10.. Banned from Expedia I hope.
