    Located adjacent to Gongyi Road and Calligraphy Greenway in the West District of Taichung City, Ching Mei is an arts & culture district, at the heart of which lies the shopping mall Park Lane by CMP. The shopping mall was reconstructed by architects from a disused carpark. The outer wall of the building has become a green vertical planting wall with around 120,000 green plants. The green wall is not only beautiful to look at, but also provides energy-saving and cooling functions, making the entire building a new green landmark in Taichung. Inside you'll find a bustling shopping mall, while outside there's a comfortable green shopping area with wooden walkways and shady green trees. You can enjoy the abundant sunshine during the day and feel the romantic atmosphere at night when all the lights come on. Many Taichung locals like to come here for an evening stroll.

    Xinshe District is surrounded by mountains and is affectionately known as Taichung's back garden, producing shiitake mushrooms, ponkans and loquats. One of its most well-known scenic spots is the Xinshe Sea of Flowers, which attracts thousands of tourists when the flowers are in full bloom. To attract more tourists, the local government of Xinshe District decided to give the Xinshe District shopping area an image overhaul by integrating the shops with local cultural attractions. Xinshe District has colour-coded tourist routes inspired by a metro map, including "Pink Line: Spring Peach Blossom", "Yellow Line: Flowers", "Green Line: Ecology Slow Living", "Brown Line: Mushroom", "Red Line: Cultural and Historical", "Purple Line: Romanctic" and "Blue Line: Sky Night View". Shiitake mushroom is one of the must-buy specialties of Xinshe. To create a clear visual identity, local shiitake mushroom shops use coffee brown as their symbolic color, so that tourists can recognize them more easily.

    The huge crowds attending events hosted by the Ciji Temple, a Taoist faith center in Fengyuan District, Taichung City, drew in nearby vendors, and the area gradually developed into a night market. Shopping neighborhoods near the temple also developed rapidly, including Zhongzheng Road, Fuxing Road, Xinyi Street and Bo'ai Street. All of these neighborhoods are now collectively known as the Fengyuan Miao Dong shopping area. You can get pretty much anything in the Fengyuan Miao Dong shopping area. On the way to Fengyuan Railroad Station you'll find shops selling groceries, clothing, beauty products and footwear. After nightfall, you can sample the local delicacies at Miao Dong Night Market. With so much choice, a day of shopping will certainly be a day well spent.
