Do you like ants crawling all over you? Then you'll love this infested hotel. Ants were all over my stuff in not just one but two different rooms (after room two I was DONE.) which considering I brought food with me is an absolute deal breaker. Now not only do I have to throw out all that food, I also was told I can't get a refund because I had technically stayed tonight (no, I came back to find ants all over and packed up at 1am. I'm still finding them crawling out of my stuff even at my new hotel.)
Honestly the whole place looked like the kind of place you go to lay low while running from the cops (but they were still charging $100/night?!) - sinks that didn't drain, sketchy parking lot and surrounding area, doors and furniture that were more patch than original.
At least I didn't get trapped in the one working elevator - the one with half the buttons taped over.

Everything was excellent except the parking lot which had dead trees, weeds in walkways and uncut grass. For very little money, you make a much better first impression.

Outside area a little questionable especially at night but safe. Only 1 working elevator due to construction. Room nice and comfortable while traveling with 16 yr old. Breakfast bar good.

Go stay somewhere else.
If you are looking to stay in downtown Charleston, just pay the extra $50 to stay in a nicer hotel. While the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, the sheets and towels were bright and clean, the actually infrastructure of the hotel is less than desirable. The pool is incredibly small and there was only one working elevator when I was there and it felt like it was going to break at any moment. Cheers to the staff who make it work, but Best Western really needs to invest in the inside of the hotels.

Broken down elevators… if they were renovating, the did a poor job of making it known… poorly constructed and or in need of repairs all over

A quick overnight stop
A very good room as far as space and comfort. Service was excellent and the breakfast was good but typical. Elevators look a bit run down including one that was out of order

The Lady working the front desk was great and very helpful. The only negative I have would be the elevators need repaired. Only one elevator was operational and it was overworked.

Room flooded, they transferred us to 2 different flooded rooms, than a bug infested room and then another bug infested room. The next day our room key wouldn't work and they wouldn't let us in our room... because they said "it wasn't our room." Worst hotel experience I've ever had.

I had baby ants all over my bedroom, weren’t any other rooms to move us too and they wanted to spray the room even though we still had to stay in the room. Only 1 ice machine for all 9 floors.

Only 1 of 3 elevators worked. Run down lobby, parking, entrance. Public areas shabby, need paint and repair. The rooms were fine - perhaps they’ve been updated. The rest of the property needs maintenance attention.
