Overall it was Ok. Staff is friendly and helpful. Toilets don't seem to get cleaned regularly. The ladies bathroom had both the toilets not functioning the first day morning, but was fixed when we arrived back in the evening. Seafood platter is quite good in their restaurant.

Very good 8.0
Very impressed with the fact that there was a bar fridge in our room to keep food cold (even though there were no cooking facilities available). For a cheap hotel the room and beds were very comfortable and it was a bonus to have a TV in the room and free wi-fi internet. Ladies bathroom looked like it was recently renovated and it was very clean and modern. Overall I would give the property a 4.5 out of 5 for most aspects but rating system only allowed 4 or 5. The staff at the bar (responsible for check-in was friendly). The only thing I would love to see improved would be a communal kitchen of some sort (even just a microwave and jug would be good).

Great stay
Large, clean and comfortable room with air con, tv and fridge. Shared bathrooms were well maintained. Staff were friendly and WiFi decent. There is a pub downstairs which serves food. The pub is segregated by a door from the rooms and didn’t hear any noise.

Bed very comfortable, bathrooms clean. No bin in the room though, so have to make our own rubbish bag.

After booking a room through Expedia and receiving a booking confirmation from Expedia you can imagine my surprise when I was told upon my arrival at The Cally Hotel that they had no record of the booking. After much searching of their computer the staff at The Cally Hotel discovered that apparently Expedia had sent them details of my booking but only as a price quote not an actual booking. It was only pure luck that they had a room but it was not the room I had booked. The staff were extremely helpful and switched me to the room I had booked after the first night and gave me a discount as amends for the mix up. I will never book through Expedia again as there is no guarantee that it is actually booked. I am happy with The Cally Hotel but not happy with Expedia

It should really be said that this property is not a “hotel” but twelve rooms above a pub that is directly below. If you are a traveller looking to get some sleep before hitting the road again, find another place or at the very least check to see if there are any events happening at the pub. Unfortunately for us, if we had known that it was literally above/part of a pub and there was live music happening the night we were staying we would have looked elsewhere. Granted, the songs he was playing were great, but there was loud music, feet stomping, and belligerent intoxicated people well past midnight that you could hear very clearly in the rooms. If that’s your thing, then the place is perfect for you. But, if you are stopping in to try and have a good nights rest then stay away. There is a reason the price of the room is what it is. The only “good” thing about it was the staff were friendly and the bathroom amenities were clean and updated with a code entry for the females. Overall, we wouldn’t stay here again or recommended to anyone else passing through.
