It was just ok, but over priced. And pushing two single mattresses together to create the illusion of a king bed was really awkward. Also, the garden needs a gardner.

DON'T STAY HERE
We didn't have a pleasant experience. The host was rude, submissive and paid no attention to us. We were served toast, yogurt and berries for breakfast. She made a pot of coffee. For my first cup, it was only filled a quarter of the way up. Instead of brewing another pot, she told me that was it and couldn't have anymore. Airlines give more coffee than that! Couldn't have cared less that we were staying there. The host was also impossible to get a hold of.

BEWARE don’t ignore the bad reviews, pick somewhere else to stay so you don’t ruin your stay. The entire house smells like mold because the rugs have not been cleaned in 40 years. Our sheets had holes, towels were stained, A/C was 40 yrs old, TV did not work. Owner was too cheap to turn on the ice maker when we turned it on she shut it off. Bed was awful, a cheep styrofoam topper was on the bed to hide how old the mattress was. We lost sleep, it ruined our entire trip. The owner purposely serves the worst breakfast so you go somewhere else. Breakfast is plain yogurt, toast and coffee. Owner could actually get fresh pastries delivered from town like most nice B&Bs but she is too cheep. She will not even use the money you pay her to buy new sheets and towels. Vineyard Haven is a dry town no bars, you can only get alcohol with dinner, stay in Oak Bluffs for Edgartown instead.

Only stay if desperate. And don’t mind a rude lady
We only needed a room for a night that was decently priced. We have a newborn who is literally the best baby that you could possibly take on trips. Doesn’t really cry, sleeps almost through the night. So we looked all over this ended up just being available and 249. Our friends dropped us off, I found keys on the table with my name on it perfect. Then I walked outside told my boyfriend and friends we were all set. Baby is sleeping in his car seat mind you on the front steps In front of the door to go Into the house. ( visuals for this is needed) I turn back around as to see a lady opening up the main door in the house in her bath robe saying “ hi can I help you......” while I have the keys in my hand. I say “ hi my name is Kalin. Then then was confused as to why i was staying here, and we to how long since I had a baby with me apparently she doesn’t like kids unless they are over the age of 7. No where did it state that when I was booking. And then Pointed to my child and called it a “ that with a long pause baby ” and she then rudely asked if I had diapers for him (obviously) I said “yes I even have a bed for him.“ She then said our room was upstairs to the right. She then told me she can only serve us coffee and tea, and yogurt because of a Covid. Size of room fine, even fit our pack n play comfortably in there. THEN my boyfriend was In the showers and I found two spiders on our bedding, that matched the sheets! Then one IN the bed, two more in the room and bathroom.

The inn keeper was very accommodating to us, letting us park our car on her property the night before we even checked in! The property itself was lovely, & despite it being an antique home, our room was very comfortable with all expected amenities. The location is very convenient for walking into town as desired. We were very pleased with our stay & would not hesitate to return on our next visit to MV.

Booked this place last minute during a busy weekend in August, a hidden gem! It’s a charming B&B two minutes from town and all the Vineyard Haven attractions. Our room was clean, quaint and cute! Stayed in the “Garden Room” which felt like its own little sweet with a private bathroom. Would highly recommend, especially for a quick stay on the island.

Manage Your Expectations
This place is super old so take that into account. Everything is small and tight. Rooms are very small. It was build 200 years ago...so manager your expectations. Many rooms share bathrooms so check that before you book. NO REFUNDS -- was repeated to me like 3x while I was there and had contemplated changing my last night to a friends house. So cover your booking with travel insurance or a good credit card...not gracious like a normal hotel more like you make a deal with a loan shark. You can't get a better location but you can get way better rooms and bathrooms. They do keep it super clean which is nice. But the mattress was clapped out and I feel like at this price point I want better linens and towels etc..and it shouldn't smell old...for $275 night is should smell great. It is super clean but you can only clean "old" so well. It is historical and has some charm if that is your thing. Not likely I would stay here again and certainly never with my kids. I wouldn't bring a girlfriend either -- that would be a fail. Good for run and gun people who are on the island and need a convieneient location with easy in and out.

The house is unique with ample parking and curb appeal, we stayed in the yellow room with a private bath. The value and accommodation are reasonable but unlike a regular hotel. The location is ideal and walking distance to downtown and a small beach. This property doesn’t really offer a lot of amenities or services. The owner was nice but too busy to talk for more than a few minutes. So do your research up front or ask at check in. This B&B has what an experienced and independent traveler needs, when on the go.

1720 House - 2 stars
While the room itself was good and the location was great, the woman running the B&B was quite rude to us. We were able to book for one night on Memorial Day weekend, but she called weeks after we booked saying that normally there's a 2 night minimum for that weekend because of the demand. We were able to keep the night we wanted, but had to change rooms, which we were OK with. Upon arriving, she immediately accused us of coming on the wrong day and gave us an unwelcome attitude. Even though she rescinded after finding that she was incorrect, she continued to make comments on how we should be staying two nights and held a prejudice against us the entire stay. The breakfast itself only consisted of coffee, tea, yogurt, and fruit, which really means the 1720 House is more of a B than a B&B. To this point, she said "normally people don't stay for breakfast, so I can suggest somewhere else to go. Will you be staying for breakfast or not?" Obviously we went walked down the street 2 minutes to the amazing Waterside Market. We can pretty much say that we will not be staying at this establishment on our next trip to Martha's Vineyard. The location in Vineyard Haven was great, though.
