Nice stay - Cleaning could do better

My room was directly over the bar area downstairs so was noisey until closing time. All the staff were very polite and friendly. The food was excellent, my only complaint would be that my main course came out when i was only half way through my starter. The room was spacious but cleaning is the biggest let down for this place, thick dust in the hard to reach places and liquid spray stain around the mirror. Overall enjoyed my stay.

First time I've ever left a review... In the main, couldn't fault the hotel at all. We had room ten which was far enough from the main area of the pub we didn't hear any noise at all. Room was really nice, cosy, comfortable & clean. No issues at all. Bed was super comfy & the shower was powerful. We had a wonderful time and I said I'd happily go back again. Breakfast wasn't too bad. Would have appreciated a lighter option like fruit and yogurt, but that was my fault for a weekend of over eating!

Parking is in a car park opposite the pub but only a short walk away. Check in was slow as it seemingly wasn't written down. Room was nice and clean. Light shades were broken and some bulbs out but all in all was comfortable. Food was excellent and a good choice. Housekeeping was very good too. Great value and will definitely stay again.

Stayed for one night in a luxury double room which was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. The en suite is lovely. Off site parking but is very close and very inexpensive. The breakfast was delicious definitely 5 🌟

We were there just 1 night the staff were lovely the room was very comfortable and the breakfast was good and tasty a bigger selection of cereal would have been appreciated. The town was a little disappointing but there was a cinema .

The room was clean and tidy. Only fault was the TV didn’t work. The biggest asset of this property is staff. Absolutely everyone was so welcoming and made us feel immediately at home. The Chef even went shopping to pick me up some GF sausages for my breakfast. We will definitely return.

Not a great stay tbh. Room was fine but seemed grubby - tea stains on walls and toilet not clean. Breakfast was chaos - only continental- literally croissants , fruit and a couple of cereals. Not even butter, jam . I think the pub was in the middle of changing hands , but still disappointing.

Disappointing stay because there were bed bugs. The staff were friendly and helpful, changed rooms and gave a refund but that doesn’t feel enough when it was a known problem.

Overall the condition for this old building was ok, however we had room 4 and the net curtains at the window were all ripped. Also the window box under our bedroom window was full of weeds, some over 3 feet tall ... was not expecting this for an £89 room.

Overpriced and disappointing

A disappointing stay overall: the showers in two of the rooms (we were moved to a second room) didn't drain properly (to the extent that I had to turn the water off while shampooing and conditioning my hair to prevent it overflowing in what claimed to be a family room), and one member of staff was unnecessarily snappy regarding this. Yes, it is an old building, but if one person cannot have a shower properly, then the room should not be let, particularly for a family. For the price, the quality of breakfast was also poor.

Very disappointing

1) On arrival there was no restaurant available - no chef 2) The room was so very small with an enormous ceiling light fitting that hung too low! 3) Wardrobe door hanging off 4) Shower door hanging off 5) Hair dryer didn’t work 6) Mattress either needed turning, flipping or renewing! 7) Almost impossible to find a clean breakfast table, none had been cleared when I arrived on first morning, nor were they cleared during my time in there. 8) Waitress although very pleasant, on my first morning needed some serious training - I once owned and ran an hotel - waitress on morning two was completely different, far better however, I feel the establishment needs to upgrade it’s breakfast room procedures!
