This is a very beautiful hotel/ryokan, with wonderful service and very lovely baths. It was also very affordable! I enjoyed my stay very much, wish I could have stayed longer.

Good hotel but no English
It was a very nice hotel, but there is not much to do except enjoying the hot spring.
Staff are well trained but only one staff can speak English.

Great onsen and room, didnt like the food.
I stay in Japanese hotspring hotels for their onsen and food mostly. the onsen was very good, there was both outdoor and indoor ones which I liked. a lot of variety of skincare and toiletries products, lots of things to try and they are also available for sales. the room was also very spacious and new, the Japanese style room has the fresh smell of bamboo from its flooring which makes it all relaxing. the river view from the hotel room was great. the whole hotel felt so new and nicely decorated. the only thing we didn't quite like was the dinner. there were say 8 to 10 courses but almost none of them were to my taste. it seems that all the first 5 courses were creamy just to fill you up, food was not tasty at all. I would come back to this hotel but definitely would take my chances with dinner else where.

Lovely stay at Ayunosato
Beautiful view of the Kumagawa river from the lobby. You can even see it while taking the elevator! Great service (they provide transfers from Hitoyoshi station to the ryokan and back) and hospitable staff. Tourist spots like Aoi Aso Shrine and Hitoyoshi Castle Ruins and Museum are within walking distance. Will love to stay here again when I come back to Hitoyoshi.
