It is such a wonderful place, but needs to be updated. They should have more areas to enjoy nature like benches or gazebos.

Hotel Campestre is very comfortable, extremely quiet and serene and has an alpine feel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The pictures do not do this place justice. It's beautiful, backs up to the mounts, the grounds are well manicured, and the staff is amazing. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon!

Beautiful surroundings and convenient location. Rooms are not as expected. No counter space, Wi-Fi is bad. No privacy at the bathroom you can look into through a small window from outside.
Andrea, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Property is outdated. There's really no swimming pool, the picture is deceiving. There was no water for a good amount of time, then when it came, no hot water. This property should not be on Expedia.
Juliana, 1-night trip

The tv was not working properly. There were no electric outlets close to the bedsides . If someone sneezed next door, you could hear them. There were no irons or ironing boards. No telephones.

no shrimp(was on the menu) no mashed potatoes( was on the menu) only boiled ,add salt pepper milk you have mashed ?I if i wanted to eat i had to settle for dried out chicken breasts .No drinking glasses in the room

The property was beautiful and very relaxing. The rooms were clean. Unfortunately for half of our stay the rooms did not have any running water. This was not disclosed in advance so it did not meet our expectations. For travelers unfamiliar with Panama, March is the end of the dry season and many locations are sparse on water. It would have been nice to know that I would not have a shower after hiking and before my nice dinner.

We were very disappointed in the condition of this property. We were scheduled for a 2 night stay, but left after 1 night. This property needs a good cleaning and update. We had the following issues in our room- the hot water flow at the sink was smaller than a drinking straw, we had to remove the back of the toilet to flush it several times, the ceiling fan made a terrible noise, the floor was dirty - I wore my shoes when I got out of bed, we put a chair in front of the door because the lock concerned us. The owner did contact us and refunded our money after our early departure.

OK
The hotel is a bit dated which makes sense since it was built in the early1940's. However, there ae a lot of areas that need repair. The rooms were comfortabe if a bit spartan and the beds were not very comfortable. They were great looking with nice sheets and coverings, but the mattresses were too firm in my opinion. The service at the bar was horrible. They had a very limited selection of liquors and the bartender who also served as the receptionist was not able to make even the simplest drink (gin & tonic) with consistency. Breakfast was wonderful as was the service provided by the hotel manager who also served as our server. Th grounds are great though the dry weather had browned things a bit while we were there. All in all a decent place to stay but not worth the money in my opinion.
Chester, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

We were quite disappointed in this hotel, especially considering the price. The rooms were extremely plain, without even a chair or much space to put your things. We had to have our suitcase on the floor. If it had been labeled as a plain, rustic place, we wouldn't have minded, but it was way over priced for what we got. The staff were not unfriendly, but not very attentive or communicative. They asked if we wanted to give a tip when we checked in, which felt uncomfortable and not something we would give before receiving services. The worst part of our stay was that we barely had water for the entire time we were there. We could only shower once and in almost freezing water. We spent a long day cycling and then hiking and couldn't even wash, take a shower or use the toilet. At no time did the staff inform us of what was wrong or even apologize. We had to ask on multiple occassions and were simply told the water wasn't working and we'd have to wait for the reserve tanks to kick in. Even when we finally got water, it was only cold. A few good things about the hotel were that it was very convenient to the main street and the surroundings were pretty and well kept. The parking was easy and the included breakfast was good. The bed was also comfortable and things were clean. Unfortunately, for the price, I wouldn't recommend this place. If it were cheaper and with no water problems it would be a fine, simple hotel.

The best way I can describe this property is has kind of given up on itself. The room we stayed in wasn't clean - pet and human hair on the floor and in the sheets, a straight-up shoeprint and hair on the shower walls. It was also noisy - tons of vehicles parked behind our first floor room (were they workers? friends? It wasn't clear, but all the cars were gone at night), and lots of construction noise. I'm hoping that maybe the hotel is investing in some capital improvements and that's why all the construction vehicles and large dirt-moving operations. The hotel in general just seemed neglected: in our room, the toilet was rocking off its base, the faucets were all completely rusty. The main area where breakfast was taken had high chairs covered in dust, dead flowers on all of the tables. The outdoor "patio" had dilapidated, wobby and unsafe tables, half-opened cans of wood stain...there was just no effort at all to make the hotel common areas or the rooms nice for guests. Unfortunately the front desk person Natalie also just seemed...unhappy to be there (or maybe unhappy *we* were there?). She was kind of surly, seemed annoyed whenever we requested something, didn't smile at all. (The server for our breakfast was somewhat more pleasant, but the bar was low.) We left a night early because the experience was really subpar. Definitely seemed like there were nicer accommodations down the road at Casa de Lourdes and Mandarinos where we dined. Do not recommend Campestre.

8/10 Very good

Great stay in El Valle
Great Location with beautiful views and easy access to town of El Valle. Shower water can run a little cold by American standards but not anything too bad. Nice staff and the black cat that lives at the hotel is the friendliest creature ever. Microbrewery on site is cool too
