Clean but very loud
Overall this was an okay place to stay. It was clean and the staff was nice. I mainly had one big issue that would cause me not to stay here again: some of the rooms have a floor to ceiling window facing the staircase and while there are curtains, so privacy isn't an issue, there is absolutely NO sound insulation, so it's very loud in the rooms pretty much at all times of the day and night.

Clean, friendly, good value.
My experience at La Casa de Manuelita was great. William and his wife were great, friendly hosts at the hotel. The room was very clean and in newer condition than many hotels in this price range. Each bed was fully loaded with 4 heavy blankets and the mattresses all looked to be very new with medium firmness. The breakfast was standard Peruvian hotel style-bread, coffee, tea, mate, slices of meat and cheese. The location is a few blocks uphill from the plaza, so, it's a 5 minute walk to all the action but in a quiet neighborhood. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

Cold
The room and the shower were both cold. It is a long 4 block climb up a steep hill to return from the town center. The owner does not speak English but tries very hard to be helpful.

4/10 Fair

Hotel in Puno
The hotel accommodated my 5 am arrival but with some grumbling. I know that a 5 am accommodation is appreciated, however, I also know it is the norm for Puno. The hotel is not conventionally located to the city Centre - 15 min incline walk. There is limited hot water. I let the shower run for 10 mins and only had a lukewarm shower. The breakfast is super simple- bread, cheese, coffee. It was the only place that didn't offer a hot breakfast to me. The staff is super unfriendly except when they want to sell an overpriced tour to you. Limited to No English is spoken. Not very accepting of my attempts to communicate in Spanish. I was suppose to have a room with a view- I got a room beside the stairwell. The Manager eyed me suspiciously each day which contributed to an unfriendly atmosphere. I don't know if the area is safe for tourists. I don't how it managed to be a TripAdvisor 2016 winner.

2/10 Poor

Overrated hotel-steep hill, cash only
it was totally different to what we expected from other reviews. the front desk lady does mot speak any English, no hot water was running for shower, the location was on the hill (quite walk to the main downtown), and they didnt take credit card. We booked it online to use credit card as we didnt want to carry more Peruvian sol towards the end of Peru - the front desk was so mean and shameless to insist to pay with cash only. i dont understand why this hotel has such a good review which fooled us. There's nothing around the hotel, seriously i wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Nice hotel, close to centre of town
Staff were awesome. We had arrived in Puno too late to get to our homestay on the Taquile island and had no accomodation for the night. Tried our luck with this hotel where we had booked for the next night and they not only accomodated us, they also charged the same rate for the extra night. They also arranged for a tour the next day (we checked in at 6pm) for the floating islands and the isle of taquile including lunch - with a pickup and drop off at the hotel also included. The hotel is also on the Bolivia Hop included list for pickup / drop off so very convenient and the centre of town was only a 10 minute walk away. Breakfast was nice, included eggs!

Good stay
It was clean and close to the town center. The room is cold but that probably to same for most hotels in puno. They gave us some super warm blanket and a heater so no more cold. Excellent breakfast.

Very good service
It's a good small inn but comfortable and nice staying. If they can fix the problem of the shower water would be perfect, I had got cold water shower.

Great Service!!! Not fancy but charming.
It was charming in its simplicity and service was great. It is not fancy, but is safe, clean and the service is outstanding. It is nothing fancy but the beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. Yes there were nicks and scrapes on the furniture and walls, with no heat but that didn't seem to be an issue. The owner was always on hand to assist where ever she could and we didn't need anything she couldn't provide. It is a 5 story building with no elevator so you may wan't a lower level if steps are an issue. We wanted a view of the lake and city so we dealt with the steps. I would recommend contacting the owner before your visit to help you with your tours and transportation, she will save you money over the internet tour sites. This is a small city/ big town and is not modern or fancy like many cities you may visit. Though it is a tourist based economy, the big corporations/ big money has not yet corrupted this area, so if you are like me and think this is a good thing I recommend visiting this area and this hotel. Over all experience was more than anticipated.

GREAT STAY!!
I had a wonderful stay! Always greeted with smile by Manuelita and everyone who was working there. Great hot showers everyday along with a nice breakfast in the morning. Manuelita was very helpful booking tours and airport transportation and confirming them for me. Rooms were clean with plenty of outlets. The walk to the Plaza de Armas is easy.

Manuelita: most accommodating inn keeper EVER!!!
We arrived by bus from cusco at 5 am with no plans, and sweet Maneulita let us come drop our bags and check in early... She fed us and gave us great tour recommendations. We went for an overnight tour, and when we returned, she welcomed us with hugs and lots of love. What a wonderful lady!!!

Good hotel in a neighborhood environment
The hotel was lovely, with hot water and a nice, clean bed. For the price I was very surprised with the quality that I received. The breakfast was good, and because we were the only people staying in the hotel, they made it a point to ask us when we would be awake to make it fresh for us. The hotel is not as close to the main plaza and lima street as we would have liked, but it was not a far walk (10-15min). A cab may be necessary for the walk back, due to it being uphill. Overall, a great hotel for the price.

Definitivamente regresaremos!!! Muy recomendado! Gracias señora Manuelita ☺
