Lovely experience.
I don’t normally review hotels unless they are outstanding and this hotel was. Amazingly large room just outside main hotel. Ordered food to take back to room and couldn’t fault it. Staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Nice breakfast too. Would recommend and definitely stay here again. Thank you.

Lovely staff but poor cleanliness
Stayed for one night. The room was for 3 and spacious. However, cleanliness was terrible. Dust and hair everywhere and the bath and toilet were not clean. We had booked breakfast for Sunday morning but had to leave by 8 and were told that breakfast was only served at 9! However, they did offer to and packed us sandwiches for breakfast but delivered them to our room including ham sandwiches on Sat night at 10pm and we don’t have a fridge and it was summer. So unfortunately the sandwiches went in the bin the next day. The staff were polite but the hotel’s standards especially cleanliness were poor. And not serving breakfast before 9am is pretty poor for a hotel.

8/10 Very good

The grounds of the hotel were well kept and the garden was pretty. There was plenty of parking. The reception and dinning area was clean and tidy. I liked that you could choose to eat in the restaurant as a more formal option but there was also the bar area which was more relaxed and had a good atmosphere. We ate dinner twice and both times the food was delicious. Breakfast was included with the room and there were several options including a cooked breakfast. I enjoyed the scrambled egg on toast. We were in room 7. The room was small but we were only staying for a couple of days and was suitable for our needs. The bathroom had a sliding door so did not close fully and no window which was unfortunately causing some mould in places. The door to the room needed a firm push to close it. There was what looked like a water mark on the wall where there must have been a leak at some time. That said this part of the hotel is within an old building and the hotel has used the space as best possible. This room is above the hotel’s recycling bin store, there was no bad smells and the staff were not particularly noisy when using this area and we had the window open. The room was clean and tidy but just a little tired. I noticed the hotel was upgrading rooms and maybe this room is on the list. When we left, housekeeping was in the room opposite (no. 8) and it looked much bigger and generally nicer. Overall, I would stay again and all the staff were excellent.

This was a charming, older property. The food and service were excellent. The only drawbacks were that the location was a bit out of the way, and the very large bathroom did not have a counter, shelf, or table for our toiletries.

The owners and staff were so kind, the atmosphere was cozy like a home (even though it was a hotel). The breakfast foods were abundant and high quality, with the option to have a deliciously made Scottish breakfast cooked to order. The owners even went out of their way to obtain non-dairy milk just for me! The electric drying rack in the room was handy when washing out a few items of clothing during the week. The beds were super comfortable. Sat TV temporarily wasn't working while I was there, but I wasn't in Scotland to watch TV anyway. The hotel grounds were lovely and close to a beautiful walking path. Highly recommend!!

comfortable stay
Comfortable and clean; nice location near the Campsies. The conservatory/breakfast room looked nice but we did not eat here as were attending a family reunion; next time will try it. Couple wee things; no instructions in our room for the electric shower so took time to work it out; also first morning no hot water in bathroom sink but working again that evening. Very friendly and helpful gentleman on reception when we checked in

Quiet and comfortable
Some public areas looked a little "tired" but the bedroom was lovely. The meals were delicious and not expensive. Attentive staff.
